I don't think the website has ever streamed in HD. When you consider that most people don't have HD monitors then it's not really worth streaming HD when only a small number of people would make use of it. The site has always said "Available in HD on your TV" - i.e. not on the website.
MaFt The line count on all the monitors I've had since about 1996 have all been at least 768. I just figured that was because you sit closer to it than the TV so needed the detail up close for text etc to be readable. |

Erm.... aren't all monitors HD?

Currently Netflix only list the Windows 8 app, that supports Super HD. https://help.netflix.com/en/node/8731 |

As others have said I'm pretty sure Breaking Bad has always been SD only via a standard web browser as many of the contracts require that as the studios are fearful of people ripping the content from Netflix which is harder to do and easier to combat via Apps on other devices

Maybe, but HD resolution is 1920x1080; so a 1024x768 (4:3) or 1280x720 (16:9) monitor isn't HD.

MaFt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television HD is defined as anything of 720p and above so that is clearly being met in your examples above. The only difference is that in "Netflix terminology" 720p is defined as HD whereas 1080p is defined as Super HD |

Pah! Mere technicalities!
(OK, I was wrong )Anyway, point is, I'm pretty certain the website has only EVER had SD video - HD being restricted to the apps. MaFt |

Wrong again. Many titles are available in HD via the website.

What do you mean post a link? Just go the website and see.

Many titles are available in HD and will tell you so but to make it easier for you. Select the TV series Covert Affairs, press play and it will stream in HD after about 30 seconds on a good internet connection.
Although on the title you mention (Covert Affairs) it does say "Streaming: Available in HD" Wonder why they have some titles available on the website in HD and some not - when they obviously have the HD stream?! I never use the website to watch so I was only basing it on the text that says "available in HD on your TV" which seems to be the majority. MaFt |

I did. And it said "Available in HD on your TV". Hence I asked for a specific example.
Ah OK, I was basing it on the note on the majority of pages that says "Streaming: Available in HD on your TV". Thanks for the clarification anyway
![]() Main reason I don't watch on the website is that Silverlight is pig-slow on a Mac... I know they're testing HTML5 video so hopefully that will improve things! (And maybe allow the website to work on Linux!) MaFt |

My monitor is "1920x1080" you'd have thought that that would have become pretty standard by now on most more modern PC systems. It does seem to stream either 720 or 1080 on the PS3 Netflix app so would welcome that on the browser version.
