If John Barowman was ever to return the role as Captain Jack, would it be likely to be series 8 or would it be likely to never touch upon the character again.
I have a feeling he may return, The Clues Are;

Clue 1: The Doctor and Clara are in possession of the vortex manipulator (Could this mean anything?)

Clue 2: He did NOT return in the 50th, could this be because he may return again?

I would love to see your opinions on Jack's Return and weather you'd want him to, I'd love to see the chemistry between him and The Twelfth Doctor and Clara.

Possibly as a 3-parter set on Gallifrey with the master?

Lots of former characters were not in the 50th, does that mean they are all coming back?

You mean like in his first appearance in 'The Empty Child', written by Steven Moffat?

Actually, UNIT has it. If Clara had it, she wouldn't have needed Tasha to pick her up in the TARDIS.

Yikes...a wisecracking, flirty, mysteriously presented, time travelling character, there to bounce off the doctor, but not be dominated storywise by him, if anything, there to both help with a keen mind, but distract/exasperate the Doctor with slightly over played 'cuteness' just as much.

Jack...River Song character type Mark 1 from Moffat.

Kidding. Kind of. Running and hiding. Defintely

On The Tardis Data Core Wiki it says The Doctor and Clara now have the vortex manipulator and also there was no scene of them giving it back.

Oddly enough those aren't actually Clues at all.
1. Vortex manipulator? Could this mean anything? No reason why it should.
2. Hrostar the Menoptra didn't return in the 50th - by your logic this means that we are due a return to Vortis! Hooray!
Yartek, leader of the Alien Voord didn't return, etc etc... It means nothing.

A Clue to Jack returning would be something like, oh I don't know... Barrowman being spotted on set...

As I think Torchwood is dead and buried, I would like to see Jack return in Dr Who. How about The Doctor lands the Tardis in Cardiff, to refuel from the rift, not realising that it is no longer there, and finds Jack in the ruins of the Hub, who is endevoring to recover any remains that there may be. That would be a starter for a story.

I think Jack's done character wise.

I'd be quite happy to see Jack return, I thought it was quite good having a bit of an action man watching the Doctor's back (erm, so to speak!). I don't think he's spent, character wise, there are all sorts of possibilities, it just needs a good writer.

This is true, although I still like them both all the same, and it is the reason why it would be so good to see them in the same episode together. You could just imagine a flirting overload, while the companion stand's there bemused and the doc does his best to roll his eye's at both of them.

I would think The Doctor is already well aware of the rift no longer being there as a result of the Torchwood hub
being destroyed in a huge explosion. If The Doctor still needed to refuel the TARDIS from the rift, he could go
back in time to when the rift was still there prior to the events of Torchwood: Children Of Earth.

I like this idea, it sounds like a dark story, which is always good.

I do have to ask though, and maybe I've missed or forgotten something, but why is the rift gone just because the hub is? I thought the rift was much like the cracks, and existed despite what physical matter was or wasn't around it. Also that rift had existed since 1869 way before the hub was ever built.

The Rift being gone is nothing to do with the Hub being destroyed.

It was closed in the Torchwood Audio play The House of the Dead.

Oh ok. so, no disrespect to those who like the audio stories but that means that the rift wasn't closed in the show and if they want to use it they could (despite risking the wrath of those who listen to the audios).

I'd rather Jack than Fleetwood Mac. (Spearhead from Space I think?)

Seriously, if someone comes up with a great story idea that suits Captain Jack, why not? Of course that covers any number of characters. Still got my fingers crossed for William Russell, even if it's just a cameo.

They could bring captain jack story to an end, full circle

There an explosion, and a certain type of radiation is leaked, and it de stabilises captain jack, and from this we see the face of boe, being born

The planet there on has life saving equipment, which is now given to the face of boe

More like Jack is beheaded by the Headless Monks, put in a box and like Tom Tit said on another thread, the sands of time just cause him to grow and evolve into the face of Bo.

We've already had a 3 parter with Jack and the Master in 2007.

I'm practically saying the same thing as doctor blue box. The Audio's are usually seperate to the TV stories. Not everyone listens to the audios. A lot of people just concentrate on the TV stories.

I don't classify the Audios as being canon, only the TV episodes. A lot of people, apparently feel the same way.

That's the same with the story books. I don't really read those. I've read a few, but not all of them.

So, to me, and a lot of people, if the rift wasn't closed on tv, it's still open.

i'd say it was strongly implied, more than officially confirmed. Though strongly enough that most people now treat it as fact.
