It must've been returned off screen. If Clara still had it, she could've got back to Trenzalore on her own.

It could just be lying around in the tardis somewhere. We can't know for sure what happened to it after the episode but if she didn't give it back, it's not like she'd constantly wear it, and the doctor probably wouldn't let her anyway, seeing how he dosen't even seem to like Jack using it that much.

Probably too busy for torchwood, but I remember hearing that he had asked the team behind arrow for time off if he was asked to appear in the 50th, and he was very vocal about wanting to be in it.

It seem's to be the character of Jack is still very close to his heart, and that if he were asked to be in a doctor who episode now he would likely jump at the chance and do everything he could with his schedule to try and make it work.

That's the same with the story books. I don't really read those. I've read a few, but not all of them.

So, to me, and a lot of people, if the rift wasn't closed on tv, it's still open.”

There is no official Doctor Who canon, so it's up to the individual fan to determine his or her own.

Unlike you I consider both the audios and the novels to be canon (even though some of the former contradict some of the latter).

Strangely enough, I don't consider "Torchwood" to be canon, and don't particularly want Captain Jack Harkness to return to "Doctor Who".

Canon is what's on screen, it's not fair to price other fans out of the canon market by continuing the storyline in books and audio which you have to pay for.

Only Dr Who, Sarah Jane and Torchwood is actually canon

I think what's on screen is king. For example those who listen to the audios can believe that the rift was closed because an audio said so for now, but If Moffat decides to do an episode involving the rift, then sorry, but that will go out of the window. He certainly won't feel the need to explain away something that isn't part of the show.

Same goes for books, magazines and anything else really, you can believe those adventures, and consider them cannon, but if the show say's something which makes them impossible to have happened, then it's obvious they actually didn't in the doctors official timeline.

Just a question - Where does it say this?

http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Vortex_manipulator

The last paragraph of the "usage" section says this:

"By 2013, Captain Jack's vortex manipulator was held in UNIT's Black Archive. A Zygon posing as Kate Stewart told Clara Oswald it was bequeathed to the UNIT archive by Jack on the occasion of his death, "one of them". When the Zygon presence was revealed, Clara took the manipulator and used it to reunite with the Doctors in Elizabethan England. (TV: The Day of the Doctor)"

It doesn't end by saying that Clara still has it as far as I can tell.

Well, I'm sorry to say it, but TW IS canon. Jack was in DW and mentioned 'his team' at the end of The Last of the Time Lords in 2007.

Also, the Torchwood Hub was featured very heavily in The Stolen Earth and Journey's End in 2008.

Ah, its actually in the References section and not the Continuity:

"Jack Harkness's vortex manipulator was saved in the Black Archive of UNIT after one of his deaths. It later ended up in the possession of the Eleventh Doctor and Clara Oswald."

It did end up in their possession, Clara used it in DOTD. I don't think that means its still with them. Anyway, I don't really care and probably won't replay any further, just wanted to check the quote you made as it seemed a bit odd. At the end of the day the wiki articles are written by fans like us.

The radio shows were done for BBC 4 and were blessed as official by the ptb. There were press releases at the time and everything.

Unless it's some far future version of Jack who's had a chance to get his life back on track then no thanks. I've seen enough 'kicked dog' Jack. If they wrote him a story where he was treated with some respect and dignity then yes, please and thank you.

It'd be great if Jack came back in the 10th Anniversary of nu-who, he could be paired up with Matt's Doctor (wishful thinking).

Imagine if they did a multi doctor story for the 10th anniversary, and as jack walk's in and instantly starts flirting with Clara, 10,11, & 12 all groan in unison.

Curious, so do you ignore the references to Torchwood in The Sound of Drums/ Last of the Time Lords, and also the Torchwood team (Jack, Gwen and Ianto) and the Torchwood Hub appearing on screen in Stolen Earth/Journeys End?

I would say that particular quote is an exception to the rule done out of an exceptional circumstance. That being that he didn't have lot's of on screen time so apart from the movie, his audios basically were his entire tenure. Ordinarily though, as far as I'm aware they don't usually reference anything from audios in the show.
