I suspect Chris would not have opened his mouth if the Series were to continue next year. Clearly and despite what their publicity machine says, T&D are not best pleased "their" show has been dumped. Last night he threw caution to the wind and vented his frustration. A sad way to end but still unprofessional to challenge the judges in that way.
I have often wondered why T&D are asked to add their opinions when that is the role of the judges.

Philip just confirmed on This morning its the first time ever he's been that angry with the judges seeing as last night dropped another 400k for the main show its going out on a total whimper.

The non pros we don't expect much sense but for Robin and Karen to dislike Beth so much when she really is a good skater just makes a mockery of them being there. Karen who plays a central role in these routines seems to sit there and take it apart like its the first time she's seen it. As for Robin the judge who for years says his role is solely the skating its amazing how he changes the score when its someone he clearly doesn't like.

My guess is they are scared stiff of Beth winning for what reason is anyone's guess.

I'm afraid I just don't get this rather childish "the judges don't like/want Beth to win". They are experts while I doubt many, if any posters here are. So, it's down to perception and who people like often for reasons quite unconnected with performance in the show.

I have said elsewhere that I'm not a fan of Ray and never have been but, I cannot dispute that he is by far the best. I'm sure Beth is a nice humble person but, in my opinion, is the weakest because, as the judges say, she finds it hard to perform. I cannot dispute she has mastered skating skills but in a robotic and soulless way. This is what the judges have said.

As to Phillip's comments I suspect he too is less than happy that "his" show has been axed. I hardly think he is expert enough to challenge the judges decisions anymore than are people who post here.

All that said, if Beth wins then good luck to her but as this is the end of what has become a rather tedious show it will soon be forgotten.

Of course they would say that wouldn't they! I'm sure ITV bosses were kind enough to allow them to jump before being pushed!

Think a lot of posters last night were correct they under marked assuming beth/Sam would be in skate off. Christine looked like a stunned Mullet when she interviewed Ray. I do think Ray will win its just a shame whatever reason they have been under scoring Beth and would explain why Chris finally spoke out because he knows the fans are seeing something fishy going on.

Their show has not been dumped - they've dumped the show.

I think the mere fact that Chris felt the need to speak out in Beth's defence says that all the so - called "Beth defenders " are 100% right in what they have been saying about her lack of any really contructive criticism, bitchy remarks, little praise and low marks.

Chris (and Robin for that matter) is himself a brilliant skater who has won European, World and Olympic medals and has choreographed ice shows for years - I think he is eminenently qualified to say what he did about the judging over this series. He knows what a good performance looks like - and given the fact his choreography experience is for ice shows - definitely makes him more qualified to judge than Jason who only has stage experience, and definitely more than Ashley who was only a member of a girlband.

I have no idea whose decision it really was to end DOI but I strongly suspect Torvill & Dean haven't been happy with the way the format has changed over the years, all the silly little twists and have probably decided they won't be part of it anymore. I think the past couple of years have potentially damaged their credibility but I think they will come back with a new format on a different channel.

I also wonder if there will be some post show interview where we will learn all about it! Chris certainly seems ready to break ranks and speak out.....

Before they were pushed?! How can they be pushed when the show is being axed anyway?

I've said it on here before but I think Jayne and Chris will go off and work for the BBC after DOI finishes. I also wouldn't be at all surprised to see Jayne as a contestant on the next series of Strictly as she's expressed an interest in doing the show in the past. They did the CIN special last year and have done other things for the BBC over the last few months.

Beth like you say can skate but lacks soul and i was hoping she'd go last night ,so i 'm hoping Hayley wins ,but like you say whoever wins good luck to them

Same thing surely! Either way the show is going and not before time. Two skaters who in their time were the best but are now clinging on to a glory of 30 years or so ago really need to hang up their skates!

Oh I hope not! We don't want the BBC to become the resting place for "past their sell by date" people! Brucie already fills that role in SCD.
