she has escaped the skate off three times in a row , even when she was bottom of the leaderboard twice. is this a sign that she may be leading the votes?????

She was bottom last week and the week before that (the latter being because of the team challenge twist).

The public are voting for her because they can't stand the bias of the judges against her, and with Chris saying what he did tonight, the public know they are right. The final will probably be a different kettle of fish, people who don't usually vote will probably vote for Ray.

Not so sure. Hayley has a big fan base and so does Dan! Even when Hayley was not doing so well in the first few weeks she was never in the bottom two and she has improved every week. Wasn't Beth in one of the skate offs?

Beth has never been in the skate off, she has escaped the skate off even when put at the bottom of the leader board(unfairly by the judges)

Yes Sam was. But I thought that Beth was the weakest this week out of the 4 of them. I think that she was very lucky to be saved over Ray this week and she wold have gone had she been up against Sam in the skate off!

I am no fan of Jason's but thought that he was spot on when he said the three strongest were Ray, Hayley and Sam. I am no big fan of Sam's either.

Okay, I wasn't sure. You see I don't think that Beth was the best last year and didn't deserve to win and it was more to do with her being an Olympian than her being the best overall performer and skater. I actually think that the judges have been spot on about her this year and she got quite an easy ride last year.

I don't think that people bothered to vote for Ray this week because they knew the judges would save him but come the final they will be voting for him. But Hayley and Dan are my winners.

I agree about the Ray vote but don't think that the judges are bias at all when it comes to Hayley and Beth!

BIB - I think that is the overall problem, because she's an Olympian and played for the country it's like she has a 'get through free' card. She isn't a terrible skater, but she isn't better that Ray or Sam

It's Hayley that I find the problem with, she's not a good skater, as proven in her solo skate last week, she's only good with tricks and when she's hanging off Dan. The fact that the only time she's got 10s across the board this series is the skate where he feet never touch the ground speaks for itself, and I personally think she's constantly over marked and over praise for rather basic skating skills when Beth gets criticised for her lack of performance skills. Never seen the point in the flying routine.

Spot on.

I really like Beth and think the judges are being unfair but it will be a travesty if Ray does not win.

Oh, please. I'm sick of Beth getting no credit whatsoever as a contestant.

She WON her series - and is now in the final (after competing with the best of the best - apparently) because she's a good skater who does the best lifts and tricks. Who has done better lifts and tricks than her this year? Only Jorgie could've challenged her. She brings something different to her routines - someone on another thread just mentioned the "wow factor" which is probably the best description of what she does with her lifts and tricks.

Beth's there because she deserves it, not because she's an Olympian or because the judges are being mean to her. They both may play a small part in it, but it's not at the forefront of people's minds when they vote.

It's no different than saying people are voting for Hayley because of Dan, or because she's on Coronation Street. It's a ridiculous argument.

Dan has a huge fanbase, as does Hayley.

Dan is the only pro in the final that has been there every series. He never goes out early and always get relatively far.

I think Hayley has been topping the votes comfortably with Beth and Ray swapping 2nd/3rd weekly. It would explain the early slots given to Hayley and Beth and Ray closing the show pretty much every week. The one week he doesn't top the leaderboard, he is bottom 2.

So explain then how is previous years Kelly Holmes didn't get through so easily? Same with Sharron Davies they were Olympians as well and didn't go sailing through the series.

Beth is hardly coasting through and the Olympics were nearly 2 years ago so you can hardly say it is purely because of that. You can hardly say she only got where she did because of Dan because well hasn't got him this year and has still got to the final. Beth is at least constantly trying to learn new tricks and skills and has been putting her heart and soul into it and got absolutely no credit for it. If it had been me I would have quit long before now.

If anyone has coasted it this year it has been Hayley who IMO has had an extremely easy time with mistakes and flaws being pretty much glossed over and ignored and has gotten with doing minimal technical skating and routines very much tailored to keep her in her comfort zone whereas others have been forced out of their comfort zones.

Beths technical skating more than matches the boys just people choose to ignore that fact in favour of the judges obessions with stage school performance.

I guess being in Corrie may also have helped for Hayley as being an employee of the station that's showing whatever reality show your on always seems to be a benefit like (e.g SCD when Susannah was being pushed as a BBC employee and her flaws ignored)

We must have been watching a different flying skate, Beth's was by far the best in that section and should have scored 40!!! imo

Pretty sure the Olympic hype as died down now, as evident by Rebecca Adlington only coming 6th on IAC despite being a much more high profile Olympian than Beth, so I don't think that's a good enough excuse for her getting through. It's probably a mixture of the retaliation against the perceived judges undermarking of her and the fact that she comes across as incredibly lovely and probably the most likeable contestant. I really wasn't surprised she avoided the skate off this week and last week as well, as last week she would have also had the sympathy vote factor due to her illness and this week the comments from Chris would have spurred a lot of votes. I don't think she'll win as generally the highest scorer wins in the final regardless of the voting prior to it (apart from last year but that was due to the fact that Matt was so damn unlikeable ) but I'm happy she's in the final, it is a public voted competition and the public clearly want her there, and she puts in loads of effort and is an excellent skater.

Here here, absolutely true, I though both her performances tonight were brilliant but her flying was breathtakingly gorgeous and she didn't get a 10!! What more does she have to do?

I'm not saying she's not good I never watched her series, but comparing her to Ray come on it's so obvious Ray is so far out of all their leagues. To answer your question about the lifts and tricks, Ray by far out does them all, though he doesn't need them because he's an amazing SKATER lets see the rest of them try a split jump.

It's not a ridiculous argument at the end of it these shows come down to a popularity contest, not exactly the best skater. I'm not saying it's Beth's fault but as an Olympian people seem to think they have to vote for her because she played for the country

I agree with Jorgie, they screwed her over big time for some drama, or to get competition out of the way for their precious Hayley who is constantly over marked for her basic skating skills any wonder this show is going of air

I think it's because it's been so close to the Olympics and yes she's probably built her fanbase from last year probably partly to do with her being an Olympian. I'm not saying she's a bad skater or she's not technically good.

I agree Hayley has had an easy ride, I thought that first time round too, she's actaully not a good skater once you take Dan away it's about lifts and tricks with her. Constantly over marked and over praised, her series was when I lost complete faith in the show after she got perfect score despite falling while others where marked down for the same thing. I don't think Beth is treated as bad as some people say by the judges, just Jason really, maybe it seems that way because they are so far up Hayley's a**

I've found Beth the least exciting of the 6 champions so I personally don't understand how she is being saved week on week, even when she is near the bottom.
Next week Ray may get a big vote from fans who were shocked to see him in the skate off. I think Ray is definitely the best they have had and deserves to be champion of champions.

Yes, I would rather take notice from Christopher Dean than the non skaters on the panel.

Beth may well be leading the public vote, but I feel they don't want her to win. So how to stop her?

I wonder if the whole thing last night was orchestrated to put Ray into the skate off? So he can come back next week with a rebound vote and overtake Beth. Especially if she receives decent scores and good comments, so taking away the protest vote. His votes go up, hers go down?

I think Ray will top the leaderboard again

Was great to see Chris stand up for Beth at long last - shame it's taken him almost 2 series to do it though.

The skaters on the panel should be ashamed of themselves, for going for (pretty poor) style over substance this series. Hayley was the weakest skater of all the girls by a long way, but due to over marking and getting the ever popular Dan as her partner, has managed to get to the final. If she finishes anywhere other than third it will be a complete travesty.

I certainly hope so. Maybe his supporters have NOT made an effort to vote assuming he was safe. I really felt he wasn't last night (I too hate the flying thing - don't see the relevance, too panto-style for me)so I actually voted several times. Clearly next week I need to vote several more...
