They got the result they wanted
Ray was expected to get to the final and win. He clearly is the best. Now there is some doubt. The ridiculous marking tonight achieved that. They made sure that Hayley would be safe by over marking her. They made sure Beth was safe by under marking her and giving her harsh comments. The flying always gives the girls an advantage anyway so the boys end up in the bottom two. Ray needs the judges to get him into the final. He no longer looks certain of winning. Job done. The final is now unpredictable.

Anything that ensures that Ray gets his richly deserved win is fine by me.

I think they would like Ray to win. The girls have their weaknesses but it seems Ray's only weakness is flying
On the ice he has everything they are looking for.A theory ![]() It seems he has been trailing Beth and Hayley in the public vote all the way, which if allowed to carry on would leave him finishing in third place. Usually they have Ray above Hayley on the leaderboard and Sam above Beth. But on Sunday they switched - Hayley above Ray, Beth above Sam. Given that the girls are already leading the votes, they would sail through leaving Ray and Sam in the skate off. Could it have been deliberately engineered that way? Now Ray will go into the final with a huge rebound vote that he wouldn't otherwise have got. Of course we don't know how big Beth and Hayley's votes are, but Ray's position on all the polls I've seen puts him well ahead, so he must now surely have a good shot at winning. He's the only one with the 'full package' (is that the new catchphrase - the judges on the current American Idol use it too ) so Ray winning would mean the final series going out on a high.

They've now put doubt in people's minds and all his fans will be aware to vote on Sunday, rather than sitting back and assuming everyone else will do it for them. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't win now he's been in the bottom two. |

I think this is most likely the case. If he's been trailing behind the girls in the voting all the way through, they'll know that he's likely to finish third in the final, so they had to do something about that. Had they had him at the top of the leaderboard, he would've got through without visiting the skate off (unless he came bottom of the public vote, but that's highly unlikely with Sam still in the competition), leaving everyone to assume he'll still win.

Another one here who's been thinking along those lines.
What an anti climax it would be for the series if it wasn't won by someone who is obviously so far ahead of everybody else. |
