Anyone know if this filler story actually leads anywhere. Does that grumpy old bat give her some of her winnings or is that the end of it?

I was wondering that too since the whole "let's go to bingo" seemed so random. The bag snatcher reminded me of Ben Mitchell from Eastenders

She'll move to the Street, be involved in a love triangle between Roy and Norris and make Rita and Emily jealous

Haha he was a silent bag snatcher too. I think hes the son of one of them from the gang who went after Lloyd. He was a silent thug too.

It seemed to fill quite a lot of the episodes so it must be leading somewhere. Lets hope its not a love triangle haha

I bet she gives beth some money but why didnt she give her any in the back of the police car. Its just bizarre, the whole thing.

What corrie is good at is picking extras to portray unconvincing heavies and thieves

Yes it was Antony Cotton's mother, I imagine, we will see her again, for maybe an episode or 2.

Let the public decide who want still on the show, Antony or his mum

I vote for mum.

I vote 'mum' to lurk about the street in the shadows for a bit, then she can lurch up out of the darkness and kill Sean with her umbrella because she thought he reminded her of Piers Morgan.

Is the character going to be Sean's mum too, or is it just the actress is his RL mum?

It's foreshadowing Beth's decent into Chesney's criminal underworld. She owes him a favour after he took her into his safe house, and now he knows that she's handy with her fists she'll become one of his enforcers.

She was definitely in Phoenix Nights, I had no idea she is Anthony Cotton's mum though. Learn something every day!

It is Anthony Cotton's mum in real life. Funnily enough, Sean's mother is called Maureen, the same as this character...

Am I the only one who thought the acting was bad? Not from Beth and Sinead, but from Maureen?

Nope. I thought she was as wooden as a fence post.

Its great to have family helping you get parts in a show you're in, just look at Faye

Even though of course the show is doubtless filmed at times "out of sequence" (with the events as they appear in the final show) -

but this may have been filmed and then shown alongside the bigger Windarse / Phelan story which was also happening in the evening with the sun going down - with the evening / night descending.

Hence the dark night in both stories.

Which were filmed on a collective "night-shoot".

Or my suggestion may in fact be screwed given that Corrie film out of sequence at times (as the way in which the Roy and Hayley conclusion was done at times).

The whole thing all seemed a bit random, almost as if it had been created just so Mr Cotton's mother could have a role in CS!

Possibly another reason for the whole randomness of it.
