I remain convinced this projection of a newer, edgier, confrontational persona is linked to a career move to Loose Women. Its almost like the sudden very opinionated behaviour itself is part of an audition process for the job. It never manifested before so why now, suddenly. Check out the front cover of this magazine…its already being mentioned !!!

Well this is an informative thread, isn't it? Not one detail of Suzanne's tweets and Kyran is ungracious because he joked that Ray is a peacock? Is that what ye're trying to say? What's wrong with calling him a peacock?

Peacocks strut around showing off their plumage. Calling someone a peacock suggests that the person doing it thinks they're vain and arrogant. I honestly can't think of any positive reason for referring to someone as a peacock.

Yeah, but two things. Firstly, he does strut around and is vain. Secondly, Kyran tweeted it @ Ray so I think it's a foregone conclusion that this was a good-natured jibe.
He PERFORMS and knows how to do it with style and grace....and thank goodness he does as its a joy to watch, especially when you compare him to others who don't have that talent. Hes tweeting it now...he first mentioned it in his interview on This Morning though. All that I'll say is that of all the fabulous things you could say about Ray and his performance when asked about it on TV, Kyran chose to call him a peacock in the interview...which by no stretch of the imagination can be seen as a compliment. Ray jokingly mentioned to Kyran on twitter afterwards that he'd been called a lot of things in his life, but never a peacock, I suspect letting him know he had heard it, even though he joked about it. Of course calling him a peacock rather than saying something more pleasant about him after he had performed so well isn't a big thing in itself and I might have been inclined to see it as an innocent joke had I not seen him the week before in an interview on TV complaining that he lost the Dancing on Ice Tour to Bonnie because she bribed the judges with coffee and chats before the show began. That combined with continuous comments on twitter now about who deserves to be there and who doesn't, how the show itself can't be taken seriously (funny how he couldn't have loved the show more when he was in it) makes me think that at least a little bit of sour grapes may be involved. |

Secondly, the peacock reference was in the first instance said by Kyran on This Morning which Ray happened to see and made light of it in a tweet to Kyran. That does not mean Kyran wasn't having a bit of a dig at Ray, it came across as rather uncalled for and unnecessary from Kyran. |

Ray is cocky, Hayley is cheesy, Beth is wooden; it's not the end of the world to say these things. I DO think Ray is cocky and perhaps deservedly so. I also think, looking back, that Kyran was one of my favourite personalities ever on DOI. I really enjoyed him in his series and I don't think he has a malicious bone in his body. It's a bit of banter and there's nothing to it that merits all the 'I never liked him anyway' overreaction. ) when hes out there on the rink, but that is to do with performance. Off the rink, I've not heard anything from him but complimentary and friendly remarks for everyone, not just pointing out they're great skaters, but pointing out issues that might have made it difficult for them,. With Kyran, its not so much 'an impression' or how he appears to look when he performs, but things hes actually said - about Ray and about Bonnie (I'm sure you can't put his remarks about her as being 'banter') and now about the competition. I don't think Kyran is a nasty monster ... I'm sure hes generally a nice enough guy, but I do think hes got a bit of sour grapes going on. Ray seems confident, and why shouldn't he believe in himself and be confident about his performance...all talented artists usually believe in their abilities - I'd hate for him to pretend to hate himself, and go on and try to give the impression he doesn't rate his own abilities at all if thats whats necessary for the British public to like him. I still find him friendly, chirpy and down to earth. But as you said, its all down to opinion and I'm sure you're as likely to change yours as I am to change mine

She kind of ruined her legacy of her original series. She was good in her first week, but stumbled so much after it.

I love Ray but he does strut and is rather like a peacock!! I think it is hilarious! He is a good skater and a hard worker and I just like him but I am not blind to the fact that he fancies himself like mad! All those ghastly tatoos! EKKKKK, going to the gym three or four times a week, lifting weights and looking in the mirror. Hardly the habits of a shy insecure guy, is it!! What Suzanne says about Hayley is true. She is a poor skater and it is a refreshing change to hear contestants tell the truth rather than the normal showbusiness "he was wonderful" "it was like being in a family" "There was no competition, we were a team" rubbish they spill out being so insincere and false!!

There's a huge gulf between 'strutting peacock' and 'shy insecure guy'. I'd say Ray is somewhere in between those two extremes.

..but If he wants to work out, get tattoos, and take care of his appearance thats up to him, perhaps theres a touch of vanity about him but I don't think any less of his personality for it.

I'm in this camp too. With Chris losing it with the judges last week I think we may get some more candid comments from him about the show once he's free of contractual obligations to ITV too.

![]() If it was Sam's first skate off, he might have reason to be annoyed or resentful for being voted off. But his fifth time there, and against Ray, I think he'd accept they wouldn't keep him. He did well to get as far as he did. |

To maintain dignity? To not tarnish the memory of the programme he's put so much into for the last ten(?) years? To not take away from the victory of the winning couple? Because there's nothing to be gained from it?
Incidentally, I wonder if people would be so supportive of Suzanne slagging off a fellow DOI contestant if it was Beth she was slagging off? |
