He really hadn't expected to win, had he?
![]() Lovely pictures here of him with his wife and their son. ![]() http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ng-On-Ice.html Well done, Ray and Maria. I really, really enjoyed watching you.

Great result! Ray's the best they've ever had and any other winner would have been wrong!
Hayley was very gracious in defeat, I thought. |

I haven't voted all series, in fact I don't think I've ever voted in this show before but I must have voted at least 20 times for Ray to win. I was worried after last week that it wasn't going to be the foregone conclusion I thought it was!
Ray does come across as very cocky but he's brilliant at what he does, I really love watching him skate - and his cockiness is of the sweet and charming kind. Well done to a great skater and performer. |

SO SO relieved. I think Ray was genuinely worried he might not win after all - you could see it in his face. Hayley kept the smile in place...but I agree with SheShe, she WAS gracious in defeat.

Just popping in to say that I have voted for Ray for the same reason that I voted for Leona in the X Factor. It would be a travesty if he doesn't win.
![]() He was also the most gracious loser ever in the X Factor. ![]() |

![]() He was also the most gracious loser ever in the X Factor. ![]() I have to to admit that I wasn't so sure he'd win, but I was so delighted that he got through to do the bolero. I think that would have been the biggest travesty, as its fair to say he showed that he was the best skater by far there tonight and I was just glad he got the chance to do that. I knew that didn't necessarily equate with getting the most votes right enough, so was just happy he had performed so well and got to do the last dance of the show. Winning however, was just the icing on the cake Loved how he dedicated the win to Maria. And now we have three more wonderful performances to add to the long list that we've seen on this thread

As one of the judges said - he is a star!
![]() http://www.itv.com/news/2014-03-09/r...ancing-on-ice/ After being crowned the winner this evening, Quinn said: "I'm absolutely privileged, but this moment is for Maria. I'm proper buzzing, I'm over the moon. Drinks are on me." Christopher Dean described Quinn's performances as "incredible," adding: "He's a worthy winner and the best skater we've had."

Thanks for putting those up. Ray is of course fabulous in those, but – credit where it's due – I think Maria brings an elegance, class and dignity to her performances that really make them a wonderful partnership. I'm so pleased for her that she is the winning professional dancer of this series – she has a real charm and beauty, and manages to communicate her enthusiasm for her work without grinning inanely or winking like an old man in a dirty mac in a children's playground.

I agree, though I must admit that at the time I was mildly disappointed they hadn't chosen Bailamos, as that was my favourite. However, I did love Malaguena and as always, Ray made it a winning performance on the night. Ray was spoiled for choice with his routines, as so many were amazing.Swampster - you're welcome And I agree with you about Maria. He was still brilliant with another partner on tour, and it was fun to see him with one that he could throw around and do a few more fancy tricks with, but overall Ray and Maria just fitted together, almost like they danced as one and were just beautiful to watch. And I think that stemmed partly from the great connection and respect they had for each other off the ice. You could tell by Marias tears (and the way she looked at Ray every time he spoke or was complimented by the judges) just how much the competition meant to her and how much she admired Ray. I agree, there was something very genuine and heartfelt about her.

A perfect partnership that was genuinely appreciated by Jayne and Christopher Dean.

![]() I voted for Ray more times than I have ever voted for someone on SCD (and that's saying something). I was so worried he would be second. Thank goodness I was wrong. Ray and Maria had the kind of partnership you rarely see on this kind of show. Ray knew he was lucky to be paired with Maria and his gesture with the trophy was very well done. |

I thought he had given the trophy to Maria, but looking back he said 'This moment belongs to Maria' so maybe he was kind of saying 'Maria should take the credit for this'? As in I wouldn't have won this without her? I don't think he would actually give the trophy away
![]() Personally I think the celeb and the pro should both receive a trophy After all, they win as a couple - the celeb couldn't win on their own
