I would love to know what Duffy is doing now - music wise - if anything

I can't believe she's completely disappeared off the music scene, and would love her to make a comeback, although I just think that is so unlikely. I have a feeling that Mercy was just a one off. I doubt anything could top that.

Any info would be gladly received

I think Duffy`s website says she`s going into the studio this year with Albert Hammond the producer of her last incredibly successful album.

Her second album failed to replicate the success of her first and I seem to remember Duffy gettig a lot of stick over her live performances.

I didn't think her second album was that bad. Nowhere near as good as the first, no, but as far as it went as it's own piece of work I don't mind it. Well, Well, Well is one of the worst songs on there though and they were CRAZY to choose it for a single. I think people had unrealistic expectations...you can't top songs like Mercy, Warrick Avenue, and Distant Dreamer. It would be like expecting Adele to top the surprising and runaway success of Someone Like You.

I think the Diet Coke advert did a lot of damage to Duffy's popularity more than anything. Whoever came up with that rubbish should be shot.

I was listening to Warwick Avenue before. It's such a beautiful song. I need a comeback from her!

A lot of people say that is rubbish but it really is true, I know people who loved her and then hated her after that advert. Similar thing with Jessie J on the voice, But to a lesser extent.

I don't understand why some tv advert would affect someone's career? I was just a silly advert for a drink, wasn't it? Nothing to do with her albums or singles. All I remember of it was her riding around on a bicycle. I don't even remember what song was featured. A tv ad for some product is irrelevant to somebody's music career, surely! Sadly I think the poor material on her 2nd album is what let her down, after such a brilliant album! I love every track on her debut but found her second album so weak, really mediocre by comparison. I agree that Well Well Well was a weak lead single too. Shame she can't do another album with Bernard Butler!

I think it is because celebs are all over the place these days, One very annoying advert can put you off someone. And that advert was annoying

Similar to the Scarlett Johanssen one where she is doing an interview. She comes across so smug i can't stand to watch her in a film.....I know it is not real but it does something to me to make me not want to see her

I think the failure of her second album was down to her. Didn't she say she wrote it in like, three weeks? She blatantly just did not give a shit. It felt to me like she had no passion in her music at the time.

I really liked Duffy when she first released Rockferry, but then she released Rain On Your Parade - a poor man's Mercy, and she sounded even more whiney and nasal than ever on that track.

That song she did called Well, Well, Well didn't exactly help either.

The strange thing is they both came out at the same time but Duffy had the greater success initially and then everything changed after their second albums.

Didn't she have a fall out with her management after the first album as well?

I personally do not get what was so bad about the coke advert? Ive seen a lot worse! but meh... we all have opinions on things!

I loved her album, i didn't even know she had a follow up to it either and i'm pretty in touch with the top 40 too! I do think shes very much of her time though, i cannot see anyone in this day and age buying a Duffy record.

The coke advert was bad as it showed the decline of her vocals. Her vocals for her live performances and the lead single were incredibly unbareable to hear.

If she returns, i hope she has had some serious extensive vocal training.

Rockferry is a brilliant album but was baffled as to why Mercy was the biggest hit as the other tracks were so much better.

You're right. I had actually forgotten about Warwick Avenue. Although I don't think it's a song you can listen to on constant repeat?....

My personal favourites are Distant Dreamer and I'm Scared. But the reason I mentioned Mercy as being a one off, was I thought that was her biggest single chartwise and career wise....

I hope this is true. Maybe she'll do better this time round, now that Adele isn't bringing out any single at the moment....

I hope she doesn't try and change her sound, and just keep to what she does best....i,e, distant dreamer, warwick avenue, and scared.

I prefer Warwick Avenue too. And also Distant Dreamer. I do like Mercy but, like others here, think other songs on the album were better.

I can`t see why not, as long as Duffy doesn`t go Death Metal. Rebecca Fergusson is doing well with a similar style to Duffy`s first album, aimed at a slightly probably older audience. Duffy can fill in with a similar style for a younger crowd,Adele`s third should sell well,Duffy just needs to target that kind of audience. Unless she`s done something terrible to herself she should still come across as a `young, fresh` artist despite being, presumably, older than Adele or Rebecca Fergusson.

You can add Joss Stone to that list. She crashed and burned after that odd Britt Awards appearence. Her strange american accent put me right off her. She was talented but it all went to her head.

Rain On Your Parade should've been a Bond theme. That is all.

i really liked 'my boy' ...that should have been the lead single from the second album with 'keeping my baby' as second single, and 'endlessly' as third.

By 'incredibly successful' you mean the album that sold around 255,000 copies in the UK compared to 2.2 million copies of her debut, and 1.5 million copies worldwide, compared to 9 million for her debut.
