Rain On Your Parade should've been a Bond theme. That is all.
I love that song, still play it a lot on my iPod.

I could never understand the theory that the Coke advert ruined her career... if people are put off a singer en mass because of 1 daft advert then words really fail me! I would have thought it had more to do with Well x 3 being an awful lead single for her second album!

The thing with that list of 'flop' acts though, is if their current sales were for their debut albums they'd probably be very happy - its all relative really. Putting Lady Gaga on there is crazy though, she still fills arenas no trouble for a start and touring is where the real money is made.

I remember seeing her on a BBC special, where she sang live, which was a ghastly mistake. Without the heavy studio wall of sound effect, her voice wasn't anywhere near as good. Very ordinary, in fact. Add that to a poor follow up album, and it's someone else's turn to get a bite of the cherry. I believe she's now running a welk stall, next to David Van Day's burger van.
I remember seeing her perform "Well,Well,Well" on Strictly and she was awful. It didn't help of course that she was singing that ghastly song.
Shame really because her debut album Rockferry was very good and my particular favourite song on it was Stepping Stone.

You can add Joss Stone to that list. She crashed and burned after that odd Britt Awards appearence. Her strange american accent put me right off her. She was talented but it all went to her head.

Wonder how Joss Stone landed that part in the Tudors

I don't remember that Diet Coke everyone's going on about

Does anyone remember the rumour going round that Duffy was Shakin Stevens daughter when Mercy was first released?

I really liked Duffy in 2008 and at the time I much preferred Rockferry to 19 - as Duffy and Adele were constantly being compared at the time.

The problem I had with Duffy started when Rain On Your Parade was released. For me, it sounded like a poor man's Mercy and Duffy's vocals had gained this squeaky tone which wasn't as harsh sounding on tracks like Mercy and Warwick Avenue.

Then along came Well, Well, Well and that must've done more damage than good. I didn't liker the song at all. If it was only worthy of being an album track, it would've been the track I skipped on the CD. Lead singles are key in selling a new album. If the lead single puts people off then it isn't gonna help when the album fails to go to #1 and drops out of the chart quickly.
