Hi guys i need some help.

I have a ps3, skyHD, and apple tv i basically want to get the sound from all of these to come out of speakers instead of/as well as my telly.

I know this must be possible but i am a bit thick about things like this and don't really know what to search for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Make and model of telly would help.

On a generic level. If all the devices are connected to the telly then the obvious thing to do is connect an amplifier and speaker system (or self powered speakers) to the TV. This is where the specifics of the TV are required.

There are four possible options.

Analogue audio out on Phonos - easy as all stereo amps have suitable inputs
Headphone out - can be plugged into a stereo amp using a jack to phono lead
Digital out - need either an amp with digital in or a separate digital to analogue converter.
No audio output - in which case buy a new telly

So once we know the make and model of telly we can say which option applies.

Or connect the three devices seperately to a surround sound system using HDMI/optical/coaxial connectors.

If you already have a reasonable music stereo with a spare AUX in then you can connect that to your TV for the cost of the cable. Remember, better audio does not *have* to include surround sound.
