unlock via cable??

Hi there

I have been given a code to unlock my phone however I dont understand what unlock via cable is??

Can someone explain to me please, sorry to sound daft however its either this or a dreaded contract phone!

Unlocking via cable is when someone plugs a cable or clip into your phone (depending on the phone) they then reprogram it so that it accepts any network sim. it takes only about 5 minutes. They use cable if your phone cant take codes or you have got the code wrong five times (sometimes ten).
