I love The Smiths and I've recently started listening to Morrissey's solo music. I've started reading Morrissey's autobiography too.

Any other Smiths/Morrissey fans on these boards?

My favourite Smiths songs include:

Asleep
Girlfriend In A Coma
This Charming Man
What Difference Does It Make
How Soon Is Now
Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
Bigmouth Strikes Again
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

and lots of others.

My favourite Morrissey songs include:

Suedehead
Something Is Squeezing My Skull
Irish Blood, English Heart
Every Day Is Like Sunday
The Last Of The Famous International Playboys
Ouija Board Ouija Board
Jumbobones

One of my favourite Smiths songs at present is Rubber Ring
I also love 'Last night I dreamt..

I was obsessed with You're the one for me, Fatty
and
November spawned a monster
when I was about 17

Regarding The Smiths....I could be here all evening! But a few that spring to mind;

Panic
Ask
Sheila Take A Bow
Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
There is A Light That Never Goes Out
Asleep
William It Was Really Nothing

etc!

Around about the time of Viva Hate/Bona Drag I loved Morrissey's solo stuff and would quite happily walk around with a T-shirt of him baring his manly (well...) torso and it was bordering on a man-crush I think. My favourite solo stuff is still from this period.

A number have been mentioned above but I would add;

Dial-a-Cliche (Just beautiful)
Late Night, Maudlin Street
Such A Little Thing makes Such A Big Difference
Piccadilly Palare

and a bit later;

We'll Let you Know
Hold Onto Your Friends
Speedway

I'm not aware of some of those songs so I shall find them on Spotify. I'm too young to remember The Smiths and Morrissey's solo music the first time round but I'm catching up now.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've recently finished reading Morrissey's autobiography. It's well worth a read if you haven't read it.

For anyone on here who doesn't know The Smyths are currently touring - they are to The Smiths what The Bootleg Beatles are to The Beatles. Truly brilliant.

I love many Smiths songs, but is it weird to only love certain parts of songs? The 12string guitar at the begining of Bigmouth Strikes again is brilliant, yet Im not into the whole song!!
I play guitar myself and im very heavily influenced by Johnny Marr and his jangle style guitar sound. love how he layers up his songs with loadsa guitar tracks. they sound so "full"

I've finally added a Morrissey greatest hits to my collection. I bought the hmv 1988-1995 3 disc one.

I saw the Smiths in 1983 at the Hacienda in Manchester and have bought everything by them and Morrissey since. The five Smiths albums (including compilation Hatful of Hollow) are peerless and should be in any serious music collection. The solo career has been patchy but if I had to nominate a classic it would be Vauxhall and I which has just been re-released (again).

I've been listening to The Smiths and Morrissey's solo stuff a lot lately.

I'm listening to "I Know Very Well How I Got My Name" as we speak (or type...)

Some sadder news though: Morrissey has cancer

I'm hoping that he gets all of the help that he needs and recovers as soon as possible.

I love The Smiths.Always have.

Some of my favourites are :

Bigmouth Strikes Again
Some Girls are Bigger Than Others
This Charming Man
William It Was Really Nothing
Hand In Glove
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out,
How Soon Is Now.
Suedehead by Morrisey
and many more.

Another one springs to mind and I can't remember the title but the lyrics always make me chortle. " Sixteen, clumsy and shy
I went to London and I
I booked myself in at the Y... W.C.A.
I said : "I like it here - can I stay?
I like it here - can I stay?
Do you have a vacancy
For a Back-scrubber?"
