Do you think that as The Doctor and his companions travel through the time vortex, do their costumes/clothes hold memories of time travel also, as it would be fascinating to know the Doctor's fez travelled on little adventures also.
The Doctor's Travelling Clothes
Well in answer to my question, it was only an wonderment but I can understand if it would be seen as strange as many have pondered but left unanswered.
I can't see the Doctor's clothes having "little adventures" by themselves (though this does give me an opportunity to point people in the direction of Barrrington Bayley's excellent novel The Garments of Caean - please read this book, whether or not you are interested in the current thread) but the idea of the clothes in the Tardis wardrobe absorbing artron (or other) energy is an interesting one, with all sorts of possible repercussions. What happens if a new companion dresses herself in the clothes that Susan wore in An Unearthly Child? What if someone were to nick the entire contents of the Tardis wardrobe and sell it on eBay? I have been hoping since 1977 that we would eventually get to see a story in which the Time Agents appear as an active force to be reckoned with - the idea of time/space-soaked clothing causing anomalies that need to be rectified might be the entrée they need...
Would be interesting to see the tweed jacket, which the Doctor had worn for about 300 odd years come alive and accuse the now purple coated Doctor of cheating on it after it was literally dropped like a stone.

Have you seen Pyramids of Mars from Autumn 1975? I have, and Sarah Jane Smith picks out a white dress to wear. The Doctor then says to Sarah, "Victoria wore it. She travelled with me for a time."
I assume he means Deborah Watling, aka Victoria Waterfield in 1967, when he was in his Second incarnation.

If time travellers themselves can be covered in 'void stuff' as a result of time travel, and someone can become timelord just from being created in the TARDIS, then I suppose the concept is not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

If I were one of the Doctor's companions I really do think my clothes would hold memories of my adventures with him. Especially my pants, I would think. In particular if I was travelling with the 4th Doctor during those gothic years.

Thank you: I'd forgotten that. It's not absolutely clear who was supposed to have worn the dress previously (he initially addresses Sarah as "Vicki" - perhaps both of them wore it at different times), but it certainly doesn't seem to have had any such repercussions as I was toying with above.
Is this the only occasion on which a companion wears a previous companion's clothes? I can't think of another (but then I didn't think of this one until it was pointed out to me).
I'm more concerned about his wardrobe from the context of personal hygiene. Like he hardly ever seems to wear different clothes unless he reincarnates(?)
With the 3rd & 4th Doctor, at least they occasionally changed their jackets. I just hope he's got 2 or 3 sets of the same garb for the rest of his attire (for his companion's sake).
If he has, we never get to see if he's got a clothes rack or dryer on board the Tardis to dry out his washing. But thinking about it further, he must have several of the same thing because we all know he has a lot of washing.. -whenever he boards the Tardis it doesn't take long to see him start it up, & away it goes, up and down, repeating those endless washing cycles!

Time Lord washing machines are the best - it can be washed, dried and ironed for you before you put it in the the machine.
