Looking at the series as a whole
It's been Ray v Females right from the start.
Ray must have had the lions share of the male vote from the off. His male competition collapsed at the beginning. The main rivals were Sam, Kyran and Gary. Sam and Gary were in the first skate off, Kyran in the second. Suzanne started well, with the highest first score of the series. She was also deemed strong enough to face Ray in the Duel. However it seemed to unravel from there. In her final skate off she made mistakes. Hayley and Beth have never been in a skate off so they must have been leading the votes between them. This could be to Ray's advantage now as their votes will be split - plus any rebound he gets from last week's surprise result. I'll be amazed if he doesn't win now ![]() Not to mention disappointed

It is ashame there isn't 2 winners because I am split between Ray and Beth!

I think Jorgie would have been tough competition for Ray - shame she got voted off first
Hayley, Beth and, initially, Suzanne were Ray's competition, I doubt if any of the male vote has been very strong and even Ray probably hasn't topped the public vote up to now. However, I hope Ray tops the vote tonight. I'll be voting for the first time this series. I love watching Ray skate, he just moves so effortlessly and gracefully. I spent a lot of yesterday watching his old routines on youtube. I notice that he had a lot more 'content' back then which looked very impressive and showy compared to now when he seems to do more pure 'skating'. I wonder if he is still as flexible as he was back then? His bolero was beautiful, I hope he is still capable of repeating his previous one because some of the moves in that looked incredible, including the splits that Chris Dean performed in the T & D bolero at the 84 Worlds (changed slightly from the Olympic routine). |

I shall also be voting for the girls as I can't stand Ray
Ray might lose a popularity contest tonight but not a dancing on ice competition, fair enough. I think thats why in his recent interview he says as much as he'd love to win, its more about producing his best out there and enjoying his performances. Hes a great skater and beautiful to watch on the ice, and the highlight for me tonight will be seeing his performances, confident that he'll pull it out the bag as hes a performer and always knows how to rise to the occasion, regardless of whether he wins or not.

This could be to Ray's advantage now as their votes will be split
Last week, both still got through on the public vote. There's no split because they both appeal to completely different audiences. I can't see that changing now we've reached the final. Doesn't mean Ray won't win, though - I think he will. Quote:

![]() We all have preferences. Ray's routines are pretty dull to me. I acknowledge he can skate well and I understand why he gets the scores he does, but I don't enjoy it. Should I still vote for him? |

I'll be voting for Beth as I want her in the top two but I'd be happy for Ray or Beth to win

Her vote wasn't ever very strong in her own series so I very much doubt she would have challenged any of the ex female champions.

However, I hope Ray tops the vote tonight. I'll be voting for the first time this series. I love watching Ray skate, he just moves so effortlessly and gracefully. I notice that he had a lot more 'content' back then which looked very impressive and showy compared to now when he seems to do more pure 'skating'. His bolero was beautiful, I hope he is still capable of repeating his previous one because some of the moves in that looked incredible, including the splits that Chris Dean performed in the T & D bolero at the 84 Worlds (changed slightly from the Olympic routine). One of the prblems with this series is that it may have been distorted more by fanbases, and twists, and bad judging, than any of the series. The past series at least managed to get their best performers to the last 3. There's room to doubt if the best won several series , but the winner was arguably best in most cases. This series may turn out to be a triumph for fanbase, justifiable anti-judge voting, a VT in week one, and the Emmerdale vote. The result is a near walkover on ability . Its got Ray against the weakest skater in the top 8, and the most improved, but most undermarked, contestant. No previous series has ended with two finalists who have been comprehensively demolished repeatedly on merit by the judges. Beth may deserve to be there, but as she didn't get to face off against Jorgie or Suzanne, let alone Clare, we won't ever see who actually was best. Ray was best male there, but his two strongest male competitors didn't turn up at all , and his next two had no vote and poor routines till late on - so thats a pretty dubious win too. Hayley winning on a soap fan vote, or Beth winning for being talked down by the judges, and doing most new tricks, would be a fitting ending in many ways. The show also managed to make it even less of a competition - by failing to create a level skating rink - by not giving everyone equally tailored routines - and by not creating enough good routines for everyone to impress. They produced more good routines than they usually manage for two or three top performers in normal series, but most people - apart from Ray and Hayley - were left with dull routines many weeks. They also went on to ruin the competition with their twists. Suzanne didn't fade after being declared the contender in duel week - she came back to be declared the contender again minutes before she went out . And the voting in the adjacent weeks clearly suggest she would have never been in a skate off at all - without the twist. Its a pretty dire competition when one main contender is top female every time she gets a good routine, but vanishes because a twist doubles someone elses vote, and fanbase beats ability repeatedly elsewhere. Its also telling that Bonnie's best routine was written by herself and Sam only got good routines and marks in the two weeks before he went. Meanwhile, Beth, Kyran and Suzanne got no credit for doing the most difficult moves - and Beth got no credit for anything much. The supreme irony would be if Hayley won - for doing skating and dance routines that Bonnie could almost certainly do, with bigger lifts, and possibly act better. |

The main parts I've disliked about the show are all the added on bits that take away from the actual dancing on ice and skew the results...not a fan of the props, the flying, the team challenges, the duals.
I've continued to watch every Sunday night, I have since the series began, but not with the same enthusiasm as I had for it in the first few. I would have liked to see Chris Fountain in it, as he was great to watch. I must admit that it would have been pretty uneventful this year and I'm sure I wouldn't have minded missing a few shows here and there had it not been for Ray. I was so delighted that we'd get a chance to see him dancing on ice again and that was the only thing that really excited me about the show this year. I'm not convinced he'll win, but I've tuned in every week primarily to watch his beautiful performances and have not been disappointed and thats really all thats kept me invested in the show ...I can't imagine how bland it would have been without him. |

idve thought it would've been crazy had he not won. the only thing I would have changed would have been Todd being eliminated straight away rather than Jorgie& Gary going before him
