Similar to changed singles thread I always find it really interesting when album titles are changed. What album titles do u know were changed and why?

Adele 21-was originally going to be called rolling in the deep

Pink-I'm not dead was originally going to be called long way to happy. Pink said she thought the title was negative and she was bored of being whiny

Lily Allen-its not me its you was originally called stuck on the naughty step. Lily said she lived with the title too long and got bored with it

Kelly Clarkson-all I ever wanted was originally called Masquerade but she thought it was too similar to funhouse and circus that were released around the same time

Pink nearly called Funhouse the title of Heartbreak is a mother ****er

Stooshe's debut was originally Swings and roundabouts, then it was self titled and then stuck with London with the lights on

Eve's much delayed fourth album was originally Here I am, but after six years of being delayed, re-worked and then shelved and then re-done as a new album, it became Lip lock.

I think Tori Amos' Gold Dust was gonna be Symphonica. Isn't that George Michael's new one?

A group called Little Angels were going to call their second album Spitfire, but because of the first Gulf War they then changed it to Young Gods....

Kylie's 'X' was originally going to be called 'Magnetic Electric', but because during the production period, fans had been referring to it as "Album X", 'X' seemed to her the obvious name for the album.

The 'Impossible Princess' album was re-named 'Kylie Minogue' in the UK due to the death of Princess Diana.

T.I's No Mercy album was originally titled 'King Uncaged', in reference to his release from prison, but had to be changed due to violating his parole and likely ending up back in prison.

I've seen this a lot with Britney's albums:

-> Her debut (Baby One More Time) was originally gonna be self-titled
-> Her second album (Oops I Did It Again) was originally gonna be called Sunflower or Platinum 2000
-> Her third album (Britney) was going to be called Shock Your Mind and it was gonna be a really personal album but then they decided to make it self titled
-> In The Zone was originally gonna be called Get In The Zone
-> Blackout was originally gonna be called Black or Black Curtain. Piece of Me and Underneath the Black were also rumoured titles.
-> Circus was originally gonna be called Under My Control
-> Britney Jean was originally rumoured to be called Feed The Wolves. It would've been an epic album with that name. Instead we got a watered-down 'personal' album

I don't know what Femme Fatale was originally gonna be called.

Sara Bareilles planned to name her latest album December like the very personal song from the album, but she decided against it so people wouldn't think it is a winter/Christmas record.

She actually released a hilarious video where she is choosing the album title:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYTNOOcJq10

My favorites were Little-er voice (pun to her debut album name) and Schizophrenic Masterpeace

She also explained what Blessed Unrest means, it is such a beautiful and fitting quote.

To anyone who is interested, watch the video, very funny

Geri Halliwell was going to call her debut album "Schizophrenic" but didn't want to offend anyone so changed it to Schizophonic (split sound).

It's never been confirmed but it was widely rumoured to be 'Gold' and then it turned out to be Alive. She said it was gonna be one word, and how she felt at that moment, and containing the letter o, as you said. Most people guessed it as Gold and then all of a sudden she said it was Alive.

I think it was originally gonna be Gold (and the fact there's a song called Gold on the album is more evidence for that) but changed it to Alive because everybody guessed it too early!

As a side not, it's a terrible album regardless of what name it gets.

The last album that my most favorite singer James Otto released was originally supposed to be self named, but then it was changed to Shake What God Gave Ya!

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly

P.S. May his next album be available before the end of the year.

Black Sabbath's second album, Paranoid, was originally going to be called War Pigs hence the cover.

Due to America's involvement in the Vietnam war at the time their American label wouldn't release it if it were called War Pigs. Fortunately for them Paranoid became a hit single!

Ace of Base's Happy Nation was released under that title in most countries, but for the US release it was retitled The Sign.

What happened with that is that they were going to release it as 'To Those Who Wait' when they were known a Liberty, but then there was a lawsuit over the name and they couldn't release the album until they changed their name. They recorded some new songs, including the classic Just A Little (heard it on VH1 last night... great song), and the rest is history
