The End of Time. Part One is actually my second least favourite episode of NuWho of all, and its cliffhanger (aside from the Dalton-tidal-wave) was just plain embarrassing.
Part Two was a bit better overall, but nowhere near good enough to redeem the story as a whole. |

I'll join in in this 'discussion' though, the worst Master story is the 1996 TV movie! The Master should NEVER have an Amerrican accent. |

I like most of the stories The Master has appeared in. The only two which perhaps is a bit below par is The Mark Of The Rani and the TV Movie.
The Mark Of the Rani I love to bits but it really didn't need The Master in it. I think The Rani was quite capable of being the Villain on her own as she proved in her later story. The TV Movie, Eric Roberts actually started off okay but it's the TARDIS scenes where he just hams it up and it just seemed he switched personality and made him camp. However, the worst Master story is undoubtedly The End Of Time. Just a crazy, crazy characterisation and the whole eating thing was totally unnecessary.

One problem with the Master when he first appeared was that he'd put all that effort into aligning with some alien race, inviting them to Earth and putting the plan into action to help them take over. But then it would take about 5 mins of the Doctor saying 'Errr you know once they're in control they won't give a toss about you, right?' and The Master's like 'Oh sod it then' and he wants to get rid of them.

Quite close between The Time Monster, Time-Flight and The End of Time for me. The latter because I found it a let-down as a farewell to a good Doctor, Time-Flight because it's my least favourite story of a favourite Doctor (and the whole khaleed thing was stupid even by this bloke's standard) and The Time Monster because when I watched it for the one and only time years back I was just.....what?!
Go with Time-flight. Might haves conversion moment in the future with the other two and alter my views slightly, but fairly confident that will remain my least favourite Peter D story. Edit: If a Master story has got Time in the title...not good then IMO. |

Time Flight and the Kings Demons! All a bit pointless really and more meddling than sinister intent.

Any story John Simms with as The Master. I mean people called Eric Roberts portrayal camp but watching John Simms having to channel Barry Chuckle. And then you have all the added fun of Davies ripping off star wars, flash Gordon, LOTR, Captain Scarlett snd even claasic who. I've seen better on MST3K

"The End of Time". While I do like that Simm portrayed a more unhinged Master, it was taken too far here, and the absolute obsession of the drumming in his head didn't do him any favors. Simm himself said he hated how RTD made him play the Master, a "giggling lunatic" as he said. He also said he'd want to play the Master a darker and more sinister than before, a shame he's yet to get that chance, it would have been fun to see that play off Eleven.

I never thought anyone would suggest Keeper of Traken. I think it's a delightful story, a rare gem in that it's gentle, and extremely understated. And Geoffrey Beevers' interpretation of the Master (although he takes up only a small amount of screen time) is creepy in the extreme. Time Flight is surely a much worse story, in every possible way, than Keeper Of Traken. |

Since when is the word "DREZZZZ" part of the English (or Gallifreyan) language?
p.s. I actually enjoyed parts of the Master in McGanns episode/movie/whatever

Anthony Ainley still hadn't quite started his panto version of The Master yet, it's sort of more closer to the Logopolis/Castrovalva version. |

Probably Timeflight or The King's Demons.
Not because the stories suck or the actors did poor work, but because the Master being there really made no sense. At least with the 'getting aliens to invade', 'getting a new body' or 'being in the wrong place at the wrong time' stories there was some logic to the majority of his actions (even if his choice of partners in crime left a lot to be desired). |
