Happy that Hayley seemed to be the most popular throughout the show and she topped the vote on solo skate week!
Rays vote never seemed that strong towards later weeks. Interesting! If he hadn't been bottom 2, I don't think he would of won. |

I think (like a lot of these reality shows) lots of people save their votes for the final. Ray was obviously such a strong dancer/skater people didn't think they had to vote for him until the final. The semi-final shock will have made them vote even more, I know I did.

Thank God more of the general public voted in the final so the Corrie demographic didn't ruin the show! Hayley really wasn't that great.

The popularity vote is a force to be reckoned with - Ray only pipped her in the final. ![]() In fact, in his original series Ray was second to Coleen in the public vote (and third the week Todd was top ). He only topped the vote in the semi-final and the final. Was Coleen there last night? |

![]() Seems a good few on here done just that. Very interesting results there. Ray certainly wasn't way ahead as much as I thought he was

Interesting read, thanks for this. This definitely shows that it was the right final 3 considering they were the top 3 in voting pretty much the way throughout. at how badly Sam did each week though, even in the week where he danced to Happy he wasn't able to get much of a rebound vote! Shows that there must have been a serious lack of competition in Series 6 for him to win. Also expected Suzanne to have done better throughout, she seems to have done very well in Week 1 and then dropped from then on - although that was reflective of her placing in the leaderboard so maybe if she stayed consistently around the top she would have done better? Also surprised at how well Bonnie did, especially considering that she seemed pretty unpopular in her first series. Not sure where her fanbase came from but I'm happy as I always liked her! Interesting that despite winning, Ray never actually topped the voting till the final - also is that a closest final result in DOI history? In all other voting stats that I've seen the winner has seemed to have quite a considerable win, although I guess it's to be expected when the two most popular winners play off against each other!Quote:

Maybe a small percentage of it, but she'd literally only just appeared in Corrie by the first week of DOI and hasn't been seen a whole lot since so it wouldn't make sense that Corrie fans voting for her based on that would enable her to have such a strong lead throughout. More likely that she maintained her fan base from her original series and people enjoyed watching her routines ![]() |

Amazed how close it was considering how weak Hayley's skating so obviously is compared with most of the other contestants in this series. I'm so glad the best ice dancer won in the end.
There's a bit of a joke candidate vote early on, but Hayley's vote is much bigger and starts and ends large- ignoring skill or ability, or even routines. While its hoovering up the vote, there's much less available for the stronger candidates. Its only overwhelmed by voters turning up in the final who vote on something else. . That vote has clearly little to do with whats happening on the rink - it seems to be there whether Hayley is criticised for bing weak - as in week one, or given 40 , and it only drops a bit when her solo skating is criticised. Hayley in week one gets more votes than Kyran, Jorgie and Bonnie do combined- for a weaker performance than all of them. Hayley, astoundingly, even gets more votes than Ray every week they are both up before the final. Ray only wins in the final. Beth seems to pick up a personal vote and keep it - perhaps helped by the Judges undermarking her. That vote becomes unavailable to anyone else too. It doesn't hold up in the final though against Jai Ho, or people deciding to finally vote for Ray. Beth doesn't have final routines that would build her momentum, or judges comments working for her. Hayley's vote seems to hold up better. Kyran, Sam, Jorgie amd Zarrah never get a vote anything like their ability. Bonnie wins one but its not big enough. Suzanne starts with one- but she doesn't build momentum with her routines, and even when she has good ones, the vote has already split between Hayley, Ray and Beth. Its basically a warning against trying to run any show with high skill requirements, with a lot of highly skilled people, and a public vote . The early vote just votes for something else -like who they see on their TV most. The most unfairly criticised, and the best performer of the week gets a vote too, so many good contestants just end up fighting for the minority of votes that are left. The voting pattern almost guarantees the competition will end up as uncompetitive as it did. |

It could be something else though - regional votes also matter, as do votes for the pro. Neither of those factor works against Hayley - wheras there's few popular pros and a lot of other candidates sharing the same home area , or having no obvious regional voting base. There was also a range of bizarre reasons on offer for voting for Hayley that were unavailable to most others. Even in the final, people were being asked to vote for Hayley's relationship with Dan - a ridiculous argument given there were other strong partnerships - and most of the contestants were dealing with the issue of not being partnered with their original pro. It was another case of rewarding Hayley for the choice someone else made - who to pair with whom - while poor Beth had to strike upa new partnership with someone else.......... There's always going to be some voters who will be sold on arguments like that. |

Voting Stats - Can someone explain this
Don't they say that the two with the lowest votes are in the skate off
Hayley & Dan – 23.02% Ray & Maria – 17.62% Beth & Lukasz – 16.46% Bonnie & Andrei – 8.24% Gareth & Brianne – 7.63% Suzanne & Matt – 7.54% Todd & Alex – 6.80% – Eliminated in skate-off Kyran & Nina – 6.25% Sam & Vicky – 3.52% Zaraah & Andy – 2.92% – In skate-off So in this instance shouldn't it have been Sam V Zaraah not Todd V Zaraah Hayley & Dan – 35.44% Beth & Lukasz – 28.13% Ray & Maria – 16.54% Suzanne & Matt – 10.20% - Eliminated in skate-off Sam & Vicky – 5.15% Kyran & Nina – 4.53% - In skate-off So in this instance shouldn't it have been Sam V Kyran not Suzanne V Kyran Hayley & Dan – 27.42% Beth & Lukasz – 26.34% Ray & Maria – 19.12% Gareth & Brianne – 8.59% - Eliminated in skate-off Suzanne & Matt – 7.33% Kyran & Nina – 5.93% Sam & Vicky – 5.27% - In skate-off this should have been Sam V Kyran not Sam V Gareth |

I really think that on shows like this where public vote is involved there should be some sort of limit to how many times you can be saved or even perform in a skate off. Maybe three saves then the next time you're bottom 2 you're automatically out? It seems unfair to viewers that the person they rate (or like!) least gets saved over and over again, eg Sam. It robs another person of their place and opportunity to build their performance level.
I also think Ray didn't get so many votes every week because his skating was clearly so much better than the rest that he would definitely get through to the later rounds. If he had ended up in the skate off in earlier weeks I am sure the bounce back vote would have made sure it wouldn't happen a 2nd time!!! ![]() ![]() I cant see that Ego of his being happy if he bothers checking

WOW!!! apart from Hayley, Ray and Beth, No one really stood a chance on making the final. Suzanne was also high in the rankings(apart from "Applause", where she was 6th), but she wasn't really as high percentage wise.
Jorgie should of made at least top 7. She doesn't seem to be that popular with the public, maybe because its an all star series. She was always in the top 5 votes each week in her series and in fact, most of her percentages from her series would have been good to save her from the first week elimination. Such a shame she wasn't appreciated as much this series. ![]() I was really hoping Laura would be taking part this series, but now I am glad she didn't because she would have been eliminated early on in the series, which would have been a shame (well unless she was near the top of the leaderboard, which probably would have saved her )

Except in the final, where the judges' scores are advisory and only the public vote counts. |

I'm surprised Jorgie didn't even seem close to safety in week one - I thought I remember Pip saying it was an extremely vote close but she was far adrift of everyone in week one - such a shame as she really deserved more than one week
![]() Also quite surprised that Suzanne wasn't higher some weeks, it seems like the top three were really set as the top three for most of the series, although I would not have expected Hayley to be leading as much as she did! |

Ray probably didn't have as many votes leading up to the final as people assumed he was safe so didn't vote
If we had had free Internet votes as we had for Strictly this year I would have voted for Ray each week and sent Sam a few votes along the way as I felt he was the second best skater. I cannot really understand how unpopular he seems to be. |

Show 8 – Solo Skate
Beth & Lukasz – 38.12% Hayley & Dan – 29.63% Ray & Maria – 21.15% Kyran & Nina – 5.79% - Eliminated in skate-off Sam & Vicky – 5.30% - In skate-off Interesting that Hayley wasn't top in Solo week, shows how reliant she was on Dan. I think if Beth had got Dan she would have been second. Dan carried Hayley through it. How were the partners picked? Some people like Ray got Maria - who he had in the original series, but Beth did not get Dan Hayley obviously nabbed him as he is the best professional guy.Regarding voting - I voted for Beth (as she was my fav), but when she was eliminated I then voted for Ray (to make sure Hayley did not get it). Some of the vote for Ray in the final may have come from people who just did not want Hayley. |
