Kylie's new single has completely bombed in her home territory Australia, it's a shame that for some reason older female artists are really struggling in the charts worldwide. Hopefully good album sales will make up for it but so far I'm not convinced.

Into The Blue had a poor debut one week ago when it entered the ARIA singles chart at number 46 with 2,648 sales. It was the first time ever that the first single off a Kylie studio album did not debut in the Top 40.

This week the figures got even worse. Into The Blue plummeted to number 96 with 1,184 sales bringing total sales to 3,832 after two full weeks on sale.

It's such a shame it's doing so badly, it even looks set to miss the Top 10 here and this is her best market.

It's a very, very good song IMO. I guess it's a combination of it being marketed all wrong/ radio ageism.

I was surprised when All The Lovers failed to go top 10 in Australia.

I find that Oz is getting more and more Americanized music wise; a territory that Kylie's always found hard to crack...

It's an average song at best and she has been having trouble down under for some time so it's no surprise.

More or less.

Why she chose this as her comeback god only knows? she should have saved Timebomb for this project and used that.

Are people really surprised that Into the Blue has charted so low in Australia? The general public over there haven't been very receptive of Kylie singles for a while now. All the Lovers, a song which made the top 10 in a lot of countries around the world, peaked at #13 in Australia (none of the subsequent singles from the album broke the top 50), yet Aphrodite, the album that All the Lovers is taken from, still peaked at #2 and has been certified Platinum. Her Ozzy fan base is a lot like her UK one, they're nearly always supportive of her studio albums, big hit single or not. Every studio album she has released since Impossible Princess in 1997 has been certified at least Platinum in Australia (every studio album she has released in the UK since Light Years in 2000 has also been certified at least Platinum), in fact all but two of her studio albums released since the 1980s have been certified at least Platinum in Australia, whether this will be the case with Kiss Me Once is yet to be seen.

Sexy Love should have been issued as the first single, fingers crossed for a release at some point.

In the thread about it on here you'd think it was the second coming, but to my ears the song is just weak. There's nothing particularly catchy about it, and I think a low top ten is about as good as it's going to get and realistically is all it really deserves.

You need to remember she is over 40 and the main buyers of music, particularly singles, are probably half her age and want to buy new music by young artists. So it is left to her own fan base who themselves are getting older and buying less music. Also as far as Australia is probably concerned, she lives and spends most of her time over here, so she isn't as high profile there.
Not heard the single yet though.
