So it was his first appearance tonight, seems very enigmatic and I cannot wait to see how his story develops. I like the fact we have a character who is very mysterious, he's a replacement for Michael Moon in my view.

The fact he is gorgeous is why I'm glad he has joined the show however.

He is indeed gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing how his character develops. I personally hope he's morally ambiguous as a person, but kind to Dot.

This is what I want to, I don't mind if he's a bit of a rogue but Dot needs someone to look after her and that could be Charlie.

I loved his shoes. Very smart. I appreciate good shoes on a man.

Liked the scenes last night with Dot. Too bad it ended the way it did so we got a bit info about his background, I'll have to watch it again lol.

I looked up the actor and he has had quite a career. He was in a boyband. He went solo. His music didnt light up the charts but who cares, he has released albums and is very passionate. He has also had an incredible theatre career both here and in the states doing musicals like Once and American Idiot.

Yeah, Declan Bennett is a very talented guy. Hopefully he'll get plenty of opportunities to shine as Charlie.

I am really enjoying this character very time I see him, he does seem to have a good heart . I think Nicks return and Ronnie's pregnancy will be linked in some way and that Charlie will have a decision yo make about staying in Walford or leaving forever.

About time I joined this Appreciation Group! Charlie is a very interesting character - he seems a kind, character who is very caring and protective towards his Gran. I'm not sure why he's lying about the "death" of Nasty Nick to Dot, but I'm thinking he might be doing it to protect her for some reason?? He seems much more of a goodie than a villain anyway. I could be wrong.

Oh yes, and the actor is HOT. Very much so. Yum. I never realised he was in that late 90s band. I only very vaguely remember "Stand Tough" by Point Break, think I remember seeing them on CD:UK(?) and in Smash Hits.

Looking forward to seeing what storylines are in store for Charlie, and how this storyline is going to pan out. I also want to see Pauline McLynn back on the Square asap!!

Pauline is back week after next for two episodes.

You would think Charlie would be able to stand up to Nick who has got to be in his fifties now. I wonder what hold a Nick has over him and Yvonne?

Ooh fantastic, I look forward to seeing Pauline/Yvonne back. She's a very funny lady. Have loved her since her Father Ted days!

I do think you're right in that Nick has some sort of a hold over Yvonne and Charlie, I'm looking forward to finding out what it is!

Same here. I thought she was good in Jam and Jerusalem too.

Something good I hope, I also hope that Nick doesn't get too much screen time ad john is an appalling actor these days.

Oh, and "Shameless" as well, I loved Pauline in that too! Libby the Librarian.
I think Nick will probably have to get some screen time to explain his actions to poor Dot. EE has been a Charlie-free zone last week, what a shame! But looking up this week's spoilers, this week is going to be a different story, there's going to be lots of Charlie to spoil us all!! *celebrates and dances*

Did you see Declan and Pauline's interview on this morning? They have great chemistry and seemed so relaxed in each other's company.

And Declans Irish roots got Pauline the job, very sweet.

I was away for the whole week, and finally got to catch up on all 4 episodes of this week's EastEnders tonight (I had a bit of an EE catchup bonanza tonight) and it was fab to see Declan and Pauline together once again! A great set of episodes! They have fab chemistry on the screen too. Very interesting storyline and character development too.

Ah no, I missed that interview with Declan and Pauline on This Morning, I wonder if it's on YouTube? I may not be able to watch it because I'm in Ireland, and there are sometimes country restrictions on videos - boo!

Never really watched "Shameless", I only watched the episodes Pauline McLynn was in (and I only really watched the scenes she was in), and then stopped watching again when she left. But she was brill!

So was tonight Pauline/Yvonne's swansong? I hope not, I hope she becomes a regular character. But good to see that Charlie is sticking around for the moment. And yes, it was a shame that he was depicted as a petty thief, stealing cash from an old man to buy earrings for Granny Dot! I was glad though he stood up to that Summerhayes woman and blackmailed her after she tried to arrest him. Serves her right!

I am sure we will see Yvonne again, they cannot pass on the chance of her having scenes with Nick surely?

Yes Emma is becoming more and more pathetic, she was good in her first few episodes but I am going off the character.

Ooh brilliant, thanks for the YouTube link. Declan and Pauline make a great pairing. Really hope you're right and that we see Yvonne again. As you said, surely she will have to come face to face with Nasty Nick again? It may be a while, she was first on-screen in May I think and didn't appear again until late August, so it may be a while before we see her again, but I'm sure she'll be back! She seems to make a habit of long stretches of time between appearances. But on the plus side, we have the gorgeous Charlie/Declan sticking around for the time being. Yay!

And I agree about Emma, I really liked her at first, but lost respect for her when she started sneaking about with Max. I do like her kindness when dealing with Ian and Peter when she's on police duty, but find her annoying when she's gallavanting about with Max, and threatening to arrest our lovely Charlie (how very dare she!)
