I am glad that the DNA test proved Charlie was Dots grandson, not that I had any doubt, but now she has got proof I think Dot will be more loyal to him when the truth comes out.

A bit late commenting on it, but yes, me too. I was glad that Carol discovered once and for all that Charlie is really Dot's grandson. Dot and Charlie have built a really close bond and if the truth does come out, hopefully Dot will stand by him.

It's a while since Charlie was last on, as other storylines (like the fire and poor Kat's injuries and Sharon and Phil's wedding) take centre stage, but hopefully we'll see Charlie again very soon. I don't know, perhaps he might be at Sharon and Phil's wedding?

I think Dot will find it hard to trust Charlie again at first but she knows how manipulative a Nick can be.

We shall see more of him in the coming weeks because Ronnie returns with her bump.

I think so, I hope Dot will realise that Nick manipulated Charlie, and see that Charlie has been a great grandson to her, very kind and caring, despite the deception over Nick.

Look forward to Charlie's return. Now that Ronnie's back (as of tonight), even more of a reason for him to have more airtime! Hopefully he'll be at the wedding next week.

I think it depends on Declan, eastenders doesn't make use of his musical talents.

I hope he stays around, a lot of my fave characters though end up leaving after a very short amount of time! So let's hope Declan/Charlie doesn't follow suit, and stays where he is.
Declan is very talented indeed, he's toured with Broadway and had his own albums out. A storyline should be incorporated into the show for Declan to show off his brilliant voice (not that that'll ever happen though!)

He starts teaching Rebecca how to play guitar so there may be a chance he gets to sing

And yes, it's great to see him supporting Ronnie and wanting to be there for the baby. I was very disappointed in him, I must say, when he told Ronnie a couple of weeks ago that he didn't want to be involved, so I am very pleased with his turnaround!

Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted here. I haven't been on DS in ages! What a lot poor Charlie has been through since the last posting!

He's been through a right old rollercoaster of emotions, what with the return of Nick at Hallowe'en, the wedding and accident on New Year's Day, getting to grips with being a Dad while his new bride lies in a coma. Declan Bennett has shown what a great actor he is and has really put so much passion into his portrayal Charlie.

I really liked the way he gathered his friends and told them that Nick was the person who cut the brakes, and not Phil, knowing that he could get into trouble himself, confessing the truth that he is not a detective, and wanting to hand himself into the police. The way he wanted to protect Dot was very sweet.

Charlie's not perfect, he has flaws, he has done some wrong and questionable things, but he is trying to make an effort to make up for what he's done, and his relationship with Dot is genuine. Even if she feels she can't fully trust him, he cares very deeply about her and does not want her to get into trouble for the actions of his parents and himself.

Charlie has a lot to face through at the moment, as Ronnie remains in a coma, as Phil remains in jail, and as he adapts to life as a Dad, and it's going to be very interesting to see how he develops as he continues to deal with these new challenges.

As an aside, I hope that Yvonne aka Mrs Doyle hasn't left, I loved her character and would be very disappointed if she's gone! Hope she comes back soon!

I love Charlie. He is my favourite male character atm. It will be interesting to see him as a father, especially when Ronnie comes out of the coma. I like them as a couple and I like the fact that they don't have any secrets with each other. It is refreshing to see a relationship in EE where one person doesn't have a big secret that waiting to explode (usually on their wedding day) and bring about the end of the said relationship.

I hope Charlie will remain in EE. With Nick being killed and Dot probably not long in EE, Charlie and the baby (Mathew Mitchell-Cotton ) are the next generation of the Cottons so quite an important part of EE's future and link with the past.

Welcome to the appreciation thread Lilirose! Yes, it's going to be very interesting to see how Charlie develops in his newfound role as a Dad. I also liked how honest Ronnie and Charlie were with one another and confessed their skeletons in the closet, so to speak, and just got everything out into the open, so that they had no secrets in time for their wedding day.

I really hope Charlie stays in EE, it's very important to retain the Cotton link as it's such an important part of the show's history and Charlie is the man to do that! Of course I'd love June Brown/Dot to stay around as long as possible, I can't believe the actress is approaching 88! Wow! She looks fantastic.

Charlie is Great. Probably my favourite character at the moment. I love the relationship he has with Dot. It's been great seeing her have family around her. Also The stuff with Nick has been brilliant and I can't wait to see what's ahead with that storyline. Shame that we may have seen the last Yvonne. I hope she comes back at some point.

I think him and Ronnie are amazing and are one of the best couples just now aswell. They have such great chemistry and I just wish we had seen a bit more lately. Obviously with other commitments it's been a little hard and she has been in a coma for weeks. Hopefully she will wake soon.

Welcome to the thread also, Willows. I love Charlie's relationship with Dot too. Even though he started off lying to her, you can see how it broke his heart doing it, and how he has been doing his best to redeem himself with her since, and that he genuinely does care for her, and Dot for him. I really hope Yvonne comes back too, Pauline McGlynn is brilliant! I thought we'd seen the last of her too a few months ago, and then she came back for an extended stay in Walford, so never say never!

I hope Ronnie wakes soon too - it's a month to the day since the accident today! I would love to see more of Ronnie and Charlie's chemistry as they both struggle together to deal with the fallout from the accident, as Ronnie recovers from her injury and adjust to being parents together. I haven't seen any spoilers beyond next week, but I wonder if she'll wake up in the week of the 30th anniversary (the week with Feb 19th in it). A lot of dramatic things will be happening that week, I would imagine, so I could see Ronnie's emergence from her coma being one of those things!

Yes, the very thing that we suspected might happen but hoped wouldn't, DID happen! I'm hoping it won't lead to anything more, and that they disregard the kiss as just a consequence of the very emotional circumstances they find themselves in with Ronnie being in her coma. I wish it didn't happen!

I hope that's the end of it. Charlie seems to have given up all hope with Ronnie though, It's like he has already decided she's gone and doesn't seem to be doing much fighting. Lets hope for better news next week and there is a little light of hope. The chances of this never being spoken of again though, unlikely

I hope that's the end of this storyline too, though there is now the added complication of Dot knowing. Not that she's going to say anything, and she has her own worries at the moment, but still! You're right, Charlie seems to have given up on Ronnie. His optimism just seems to have completely fallen apart. I do think Ronnie may wake next week, I haven't seen any spoilers beyond tonight's episode, but it seems like just the type of thing that might happen in Anniversary Week! I have the feeling the repercussions of what Charlie and Roxy did will last a long time, and will still be spoken about in months to come; if Ronnie does recover fully, it will be the elephant in the room as far as Charlie and Roxy are concerned. It's something neither of them will be able to forget about or get over.

It's good to see Ronnie is appearing to wake now though. And I guess we will see what damage has been done. I'm kinda looking forward to this story moving on a bit now though. Charlie hasn't been doing much for a few weeks now, he's been really down, understandably of course. I'm not sure Ronnie (If she heard everything) is going to let things go though also intrigued with what connection she has to this new guy

Some fab episodes this week alright, and what a cracker tonight was! I agree with you, why did Charlie and Roxy feel the need to have that conversation by Ronnie's bedside? Couldn't they have done it at home or something? They took a massive risk by doing that, and it backfired! It's great to see some improvements in Ronnie's condition lately. It will be interesting to see what the connection between her and the latest new arrival is. I look forward to finding out!
