What size are you after? And what is your budget?
It's difficult to recommend one without that information. |

Also, if you're going for an up to date tablet with the newest Android OS, it won't come with Flash as Flash for mobile has been discontinued by Adobe. You may still be able to side-load it and get it to work with a different browser, but it probably won't work with Chrome. |

I haven't personally used one but I'm sure there are nook owners here who can tell you more about it. It's very good spec for the price and has an SD card slot which many tablets do not. |

The 9" nook HD has a very good screen (1080p 1920 x 1280 - 256 pixels per inch) and good volume of sound (single speaker). There is no camera - but as most tablet cameras are not very good, that's no great loss. You can access google play and use all the usual downloads. It has an SD slot for storage, which is lacking on the Nexus. It runs BBC iPlayer and Catchup TV without any hitches and the picture is excellent. I rarely use my Nexus 7.2 now as I prefer the nook. Imo the Nexus is highly overrated. You will find all sorts of advice about being able to run Flash on the Nexus 7 with Dolphin, and a number of other browsers, but none of them work on my Nexus 7.2, which has the latest KitKat upgrade. If you want to play games, check out that the nook will be fast enough, as it's only dual core. I don't play games, but can say that the nook has never shown any problems when running video and online TV. If it is fast enough for what you need, it's an excellent buy. What it does, it does very well, without all the bells and whistles (that you probably won't use) on more expensive tablets, that get them 5 stars in reviews. You can take out replacement cover on the Very.co.uk site for around 30 pounds, which covers accidental damage. If you google the voucher sites you will probably be able to find a discount code - I got 30 pounds off mine with a discount voucher. The 9"nook HD is a genuine bargain. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/nook...ary-features-1 |

Just bought a nook HD+ off second hand for £90, good as new condition.
Previous owner had put on cyanogenmod which I had planned on doing. 9" is a good screen size and its quality is very good, mainly used by my son for reading books and its fine for that. Also for web browsing is OK and no problems playing back HD movies. Though its 'only' dual core, you shouldn't find it lacking for speed. Plays Minecraft PE without problems so facebook games should be fine. Comes with SD card slot which the nexus doesn't. Speakers are pretty good for a tablet. Accessories like cases, charges, screen cover, etec are a fiver from B&N website. Battery life is around 5 hours playing back video. Only downsides have been its got a custom connector, not micro-usb and design is a bit weird (there is a hole in the corner which apparently you can stick a pen through to use as a stand). |

You don't mention your budget, but to get you going you will not go wrong with the Archos 80 cobalt, @ £49.
My two grand kids got theirs over a year ago and still working fine. They are not the all singing all dancing up to date tablets but for your needs they will do fine and they do have flash support. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2910857025...ectorid=229508 |

While on the subject of externals, the on/off switch and volume press-buttons on the nook are better placed and easier to use than those on the nexus - the nexus control buttons being a real fiddle when used in a case. |

I've just bought a tablet for £89.99 from Amazon, it has a micro HDMI,2 micro usb slots, 16GB memory and an SD card slot (upgradeable to 32GB), its very responsive, streams via HDMI cable ( bought separately) like a dream. You can attach a usb keyboard to it as well. I love it and for the price it is a smashing little device!!
Its a NATPC X210 10.1 inch tablet and i can wholeheartedly recommend it, even though I've only had it 24 hours!!

You can put apps and pics on the SD card...some tablets don't have an SD card slot though
all depends on the budget! I would maybe go for this at £120 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Iconia-.../dp/B00DDKRHBO |
