Madonna posted a picture on instagram stating that she was off to the studio with Avicii. If they are working together on music for Madonna's new album, is it a good idea?

Not really
I miss experimental Madonna. Back when she did things no one else was doing. It sounds to me this new album could be just another dance oriented album.

I can't stand Avicii so no. Unlike the rest of the planet I LOATHED Wake Me Up.
Plus this is Madonna bandwagon jumping. Again.
She used to be driving that van....

It really all depends on the depth of Avicii's involvement, if it's just a couple of tracks then that will be ok as I liked You Make Me and Hey Brother but if he's producing then there is a possibility it could be a bad thing because I thought Wake Me Up was quite boring and uninspiring.

But this being Madonna I would assume it will be anything but boring.

And I don't feel that Madonna is bandwagon jumping as I can't recall Avicii working with any other big stars prior to Madonna.

And of course it will be dance orientated, Madonna is, has and always will be a dance artist, she recorded Into The Groove and use the intro You Can Dance as the title to her remix album.

Of course she is, as a huge fan, i would be an idiot to not know but with every album it can come across sounding the same
There's is bog standard dance music, or there is experimental out of this world cross genre dance music. She showed she can be much more than a dance artist with Ray of light and Confessions. They were not your typical dance pop albums. Or even do an album that is distant from dance like Like a prayer, Erotica and Bedtime stories.

To be fair, Madonna isn't jumping on the bandwagon with Avicii. Looking at his discography in terms of well known artists, he hasn't really worked with anyone well known. He is still on the rise. Even before wake me up exploded, Madonna had expressed wanting to working with him around the time MDNA droped. He only remixes popular songs, and even then it doesn't require actually working with the artist.

Madonna will be the first artist Avicii has produced music for that haven't been remixes. So there is no bandwagon jumping taking place. Avicii's music is also very diverse. It ranges from dance, to country to folk. So at this point we have no idea what the actual sound will be. He is very much like Mirwais, who in my opinion is the best person she ever worked with. Besides all that Madonna has wanted to work with Avicii since 2011 but the timings never worked out until now.

We also have strong rumours she worked with Pat Leonard again. Of course people will always find an excuse to bash Madonna. It comes down to the fact she has done everything their faves never could. The truth here however is that working with Avicii could mean any sound. He isn't limited to one genre. So until we have confirmation of what the sound of album 13 is, everyone is just assuming.

She is jumping on the bandwagon okay she'll be the first major artist to work with him but she has seen the success of hey brother and wake me up plus his other singles and thinking he will produce her a hit she so needs

We have quotes from Madonna from both 2011 and 2012 where she expresses an interest in working with Avicii. The timings just didn't work out for them both then. She was onto his talent before he even blew up worldwide with Wake Me Up. so just because he is big now doesn't mean she should avoid him.

And yeah if he produces a Hey Brother for her she will be number 1 around the world again. Maybe that's what is annoying people as they have written her off as a has been and now may have to eat their words

This is her normal modus operandi. I don't get the fuss. Find the hot producer and book him. Orbit, Mirwas, Timberland, Farrell, Price, Oakenfold, Martin Solveig and now Avicii.

It's not rocket science, but it's worked well for her in the past.

I think if this album is as poor as the last 2, I'm handing in my fan card and revising her better work. Avicii? Come on!

Not bothered really. However, Avicii is a bit boring... If he makes a folk beat for her it could do well though.

MDNA fell a bit flat imo, it wasn't particularly inspiring or at all noteworthy for a Madonna album. I think this could go either way, really. I don't think Avicii is as generic as everyone thinks, far less so than the likes of Guetta anyway, but I just don't think he's necessarily the direction Madonna should be going down. He could write her a huge number one hit that puts her back on the map, or another album of uninspiring dance-pop.

Avicii is easily one of the blandest artists around today. All his songs sound the same!

I really dont understand the cricitism here....AVICII is a massive musician as well as mixer/DJ personality...he is a mighty talent to work with much like Orbit had some successes pre-ROL and Mirwais and Stuart Price did too...but when they worked with Madonna they blew up even further and opened ew areas for them.

As others have said Madonna has wanted to work with AVICII before (he would have been perfect alongside Orbit for MDNA i feel) but the timings didn work out and the label needed an album out so Solveig, Bennassi were on board etc....

Plus with Avicii the rumours of Nile Rodgers involvment and Moroder may ring more truer as both are afilated with Avicii plus both have history with Madonna too so would be EPIC to hear.

Also to those saying "every Avicii song sounds the same" all 10 songs on his TRUE album sound very different to one another...plus i love how he incorporates elements of CLassical music with FOlk and Blues with intense EDM or trippy electronica beats...it will be really cool to hear what they both come up with together...

my dream lineup for album 13 is nearly complete (just need Pat.Leonard confirmation, Daft Punk and Blood Orange and this could be my fave pieces of music yet ) until then lets just see shall we...both are talented...i am just happy she hasnt actually "jumped the bandwagon" and gone for will.i.am, Timbaland, guetta, Pharrell, of late which every female in pop seems to have done of late....so heres to it AVICII cannot wait for more news.

Daft Punk would be a better fit, but Avicii is okay.

What she really needs to work on are her lyrics.

Yeah and also why i hope that the production is cohesive for this album...i love vriation but having 4 or 5 producers on one album can be jarring (both Bennassi brothers, Demo Crew, Orbit, Solveig on one album was so much!) while i love flavour and texture and variety of sounds and styles i would love it if Madonna and AVICII perhaps were main together and really expertly worked on something and include perhaps Nile, Moroder side on maybe...would be cool

ANd lyrically i feel MDNA did have some darker themes and personal lyrics it jus felt "neater" perhaps sometimes...when it could have been broader and spontaneous and indeed longer songs but hey....she is more than capable of reaching into her soul and pouring it out...so many themes with her Revolution art shows etc as well as personally how she feels too...married together it could make a really personal and open album musically and lyrically.

Wake Me Up, I Could Be The One and Levels are so different.

I think this could really give Madonna the exposure she needs for her new stuff

I may of been a bit negative in saying No to Madonna working with Aviici
I just would like to see something different from her. Maybe Aviici can do that

It;s possible. Check out We Write The Story which Avicii wrote with Benny & Bjorn from ABBA for last years Eurovision Song Contest. It didn't sound like Avicii or ABBA yet it still managed to sound quite anthemic.

Actually, it would be interesting to hear what an Avicii ballad would sound like. Hey Brother could easily be a country ballad without Avicii's trademark sound all over it. I'm pretty sure most people have now heard Wake Me Up by Aloe Blacc to know the differences.

It might work out for the best. If nothing else, it'll be massive in Sweden!!!
