Now I'm guilty of some dodgy segues in my time, I'm sure, but The Passions "I'm in love with a German film star" via a bit of awful singalong into Matt Monro "Softly as I leave you" just now...oh dear...

Ive never been able to take him seriously since”
Who can forget Wayne Carr in the afternoon and On the hour?
Why does the traffic woman always sound out of breath or distracted? Lots of 'errs' and intakes of breath.
I've never managed to follow one of her bulletins yet. Her broadcasting style distracts me from the content.

Sally cause Steve rushes her as his show is tight.

They do stop though. For jingles and inane banter about who has picked the non stop oldies and how much they LTS.
It took me about a year to work out one of the jingles:
Steve wright in the afternoon, Great Britain
I couldnt figure out the Great Britain part for ages. In saying that im probably wrong and its something about oranges for all I know

Yes I saw Tony's tweet this morning.
Had the misfortune to hear Patrick Kielty yesterday afternoon. Oh dear, he's dreadful beyond dreadfulness.
Next week we've no Vanessa, Chris, Ken, Simon or Jo.
What other station do you know could allow 5 daytime presenters to be off at the same time?

I just don't understand the thought process as to why Mr Keilty is the preferred stand in for SW. maybe someone could explain what his particular appeal is as I switch off when he is on.
Tony Blackburn (whilst he still breathes) use him he is by far a superior presenter, in fact better than the lot of them (with a few exceptions of course)

I'd get the sack if I let four 'key' personnel off at the same time! Having said that I won't be missing 4 of those 5 and their stand in's ain't much better, you can get better at your local temp agency.....

I keep well away from Radio Two when Kielty is covering for Steve, As you say he is dreadful !!! Why don't they use Alex Lester or Richard Allinson is beyond me??

OMG can Steve Wright for once in his life not talk over the end of a song. Its not even the last few seconds or so, its usually about half the bloody song
This is the reason I simply do not tune in. That and the fact that the format of the show has not changed in about 25 years. Dont get me wrong if it aint broke etc, but please refresh it a little
UK submarines apparently listen in to Radio 2 and if they can't hear the self-congratulatory tones of Steve Wright and his 'big show', they assume the country has been nuked and respond, following the PM's pre-recorded instructions

It's just been announced that the actress Edna Dore has died.Wasn't there a rumour once that she was the voice of the 'old woman' on Steves show? I guess we're about to find out if it was true or not !
