Okay so, I want to stream Netflix USA in the UK on my PS3 which uses an Ethernet cable for internet as it's better internet speed.

Apparently I have to change DNS settings and stuff but that's only applicable for wireless, how would I go about doing this if I have an Ethernet cable?

If you are changing the DNS settings on the PS3, rather than the router, it doesn't matter whether you plug in your ethernet cable of use wireless. I'm assuming you will be using a proxy DNS.

Personally I use Overplay, which works out at just over £3 a month, plus I can then access all the other Netflix regions.

According to unlocator.com it's only free while it's in beta, once it's out of beta they'll ask for payment info.

All the advice I've seen for getting US Netflix on the PS3 or PS4 says you need a US Netflix account too. A UK one won't work. I access the US version via the Netflix app built into my soundbar (and LG one) which works fine with a UK Netflix account after the DNS settings are changed on the soundbar itself.

My Sony TV has the same problem as the PS3 and PS4 though.

You don't need a US based account to access the US version on PS3. Any advice suggesting this is wrong. A DNS change will do.

I originally used my PS3 with ethernet for NF, you just need to change the DNS settings on the PS3. I'd get myself a Un block us or Overplay account, it's only £3.00 or a month.

I think all this talk about US NF account comes from the days before we had NF in this country, then you would of had to subscribe to the US version.

What about when you want to play a online ps3 game like Fifa 14. Do you then need to put the USA DNS settings back to the original settings?

I'm just thinking won't it re-route all my online games to USA servers and make them really laggy?

Thanks for any help.

It shouldn't do, but even if it does it only takes around 30 seconds to change back to Auto settings. Custom setting should still remain so just alternate between the two.
Or if it's anything like Wii & WiiU then you may even be able to setup separate network connections ie connection 1 for normal setting, connection 2 with added DNS for Netflix and again alternate between the two.

Don't use Overplay in my experience (maybe i was just unlucky) it was rubbish. Use unblock-us instead get the free 7 day trial and just follow the instructions on how to set up the device/s you want to set up. After the 7 days it works out at about £2.20p/m.

Strange , was working fine for me last night. Take it you've updated to the latest DNS settings for unlocator ? .

These are : Primary DNS 185.37.37.37 & Secondary DNS 185.37.37.185

Tried it just now and all okay.

Think you were unlucky, ive been using overplay smart DNS and its been working flawlessly for every region it offers, all wired through the PS3 and playback is 1080 superHD

Just so you know unlocator from today is chargable at $4.95p/m about £3p/m they've officially gone live.

You Get a Free 7-Day Trial

All BETA users have been assigned a free 7-Day Trial. From then on, you can upgrade to our subscriptions in order to keep using Unlocator:

'All this talk' comes from the instructions on the Unblock US website, which refers to a US or Canadian Netflix account being required.

I've just tried updating the DNS settings on my PS with a UK Netflix account and everything worked fine, so the instructions are misleading.

Yeah got that email. Seems if you want Netflix switching FOC the only service that might be able to offer this is Tunnelto.us but as of today the Netflix channels are not yet available. Coming soon apparently.

This list might be useful for people wanting to know the runners and riders that currently support Netflix switching. Thanks to JamesA1 on redflagdeals.com for this.
