Scart connections
My TV has two scart sockets. I have a DVD player and a Sky box to attach to these sockets. I have connected up these boxes as instructed by their manuals but am not sure which scart socket to connect which device to.
The TV scart sockets have no wording on them apart from 1 and 2. Does it matter which device is connected to which TV scart socket? TV is quite old and I have no longer have the manual for it Thanks for any advice |

1 would probably indicate av1 and 2 wold be av2
If you're not sure, just turn on the DVD and the sky box, and then press the Av / input button on your TV / remote until the picture comes up! You might find that your TV automatically tunes into the sky box when you switch it on.... Same for the DVD. PS it does not matter which way around you connect them. Although you might get slightly better picture on number 1.... So you might want to use av1 for the thing you use most often. |

You get a better picture using RGB input and this is often only available on the av1 socket. Try connecting the Sky box to this socket and using the menu setting on the Sky box to toggle between composite and RGB. (I am assuming that you have a fully wired scart lead! If you haven't this won't do a thing).
There will be a similar option on the dvd player so you need to decide which one you want the slightly better picture on, assuming you see a difference, |

Thank you!
I have now connected both gadgets to the TV and, so far, the Sky box is working OK and I have programmed the DVD to record 'Salamader' later in the evening so hopefully that will work as well! |

I would daisy-chaing the DVD player through the Sky box to AV1 on the the TV. That way both get the benefit of best-quality RGB video format.
Edit: Ah! It is a DVD recorder not a player. In that case I would daisy-chain the Sky box through the DVD recorder as that way round you can copy stuff off the Sky box to the DVD recorder. |
