LED TVs and clouding
Has anyone with an LED tv got serious problems with clouding. Is it very prominent ? . Is it more of a problem if the screen is large ? I have read reviews and it appears this can be a problem. I am looking to buy a Sony led KDL50W656 (connected to a Tivo) but am put off. If the fault is in the centre of the screen this is generally where the eyes focus.

Not sure how much the video of monitors relates to TV's. That aside, a lot would depend on the panel used in the particular TV you were looking at. That Sony doesn't seem to have any issues.
To be honest I've not seen it as an issue on any of the Sets I have. Get the TV from somewhere that's easy for returns and test it in the home. It's the only way to judge a TV as everyone has different ideas of 'perfect' and 'great'...

I have some clouding in the bottom right quadrant with my Samsung 40 inch LED, but it only became apparent after 2 years and it's no real concern as I can't see it at all with Freeview/HD Freeview and DVDs. I notice it more with letterbox Blu-rays because I can see the bottom right isn't black but dark grey instead.
Adjusting the picture settings resolves it. |
