How do you cook your veg?

I always use my microwave as it's a form of steaming, it's quicker, uses very little water and saves on the washing up. I find that the vegetables are well cooked but are not mushy, doing them this way, and I haven't got to watch them, just set the timer then you're done.

Also I don't add salt whilst cooking but add afterwards to taste.

How do you do yours?

Roast, steam, stir fry or boil depending on mood.

I tend to roast mine in a little olive oil and seasoning. Far more flavour but obviously not quite as healthy. The olive oil is minimal though so although a few more calories I'll happily trade that off for better tasting food.

Depends on the veg and the meal but never microwave anything so it would usually be steamed, roasted or stir fried or even boiled.

Recently I've been having a plateful of boiled veg for my main meal of the day............trying to lose some weight

I don't boil them for long, just long enough to soften them

Today I had carrots, celery, broccoli and cauliflower with grated cheese sprinkled over

I've never microwaved veg...........how does that work ?

Do you have to put them in a bowl with water or can you just put raw veg on a plate and stick it in ?

How long for ?.........and would it vary for say carrots and broccoli ?

We usually eat raw (as we eat a raw diet 4 days a week). The other 3 days, we steam unless we're making a soup/stew/whatever.

What a weird diet.

I love to roast my veg, agreed the flavour really comes but always try to balance with a green steamed veg or two.

It depends on the vegetable. The mood. What else is going on the plate. No one size fits all prep around here.

If I'm doing 'boiled' potatoes I put them in a plastic bowl with a vented lid (out of pound shop) and half a cup of water. I put on full power for about 12 minutes. This depends on quantity and the power of your microwave.

For carrots, broccoli, cauliflower I use about a tablespoon of water and do for about 6 or 7 minutes. Other veg varies from 4 minutes upwards. You just have to experiment a bit with your microwave.

You can do fresh or frozen veg in the microwave.

If I'm having boiled potatoes, then frozen peas, broad beans or sprouts will go in with them. I also eat tinned sweet corn and carrots, and those get microwaved.

I apply a source of heat to them.

I mainly steam but I do use little mini veg packs you can get in M&S - they go in the microwave for a minute and they are a God send for a little one. You get 3 different veggies, perfect portion size, ready to eat in minutes..

Almost always steamed although I did roast some the other evening. In a stir fry if that's what I'm doing. Haven't boiled veg for years and very rarely microwave.

Also, I don't add salt either during in or after cooking them.
