They are a very formidable animal but Mesonychoteuthis (the Colossal squid) is much heavier and possesses weaponry from a science fiction nightmare.

A recent article on the Goliath grouper - the protected species is now slightly recovering so fishermen (as usual) want to slaughter all the poor buggers again.
