“The death of Lucy, played by Hetti Bywater, will devastate her dad Ian Beale, who is the sole remaining member of the original cast from 1985.”

Since when did Sharon quit?

The whole cast? This is going to be interesting, makes you wonder how exacftly she is going to die, if everyone comes under suspicion

I think they mean consistently from day 1. Sharon has had numerous breaks and been away from the show for years.

Sharon hasn't been in the show solidly and consistently since Day One like Ian has, though - still an original character though, one could possibly argue.

She's left a few times and has returned 3 or 4 times, same as Dot has.

Ian hasn't ever left at all really, to my knowledge.

This sounds brilliant!
And we have a quote from the Head of BBC Drama!, its been a while since anyone that high up was commenting on Eastenders. Looks like they are all going all out for this story!!

Really hope they do 1 big trailer with all the cast rather than individual character trails.

I do love a good marketing campaign, I have to say. I wonder how they're going to logistically get the entire cast in to an advert? Individual character/family trails or a feature length advert with the whole cast in like Hollyoaks sometimes do? Will it be a concept advert or will they just use footage from the show? I like the idea of them doing something very dark and conceptual and imaginative. Hope they get the budget to do it properly.

As for the episode itself featuring the entire cast, that will work well as long as it's an hour long episode, which I'm sure it will be.

Her death HAS too be on same day as Ian & Denise's wedding then yeah? Would be a reason for the whole cast too be in an episode.

I can see them doing interrogation adverts. Each character sat in a chair under a spotlight like an interrogation room, saying where they were at the time of the death and why they had no motive to kill Lucy.

Maybe family unit-based adverts to make sure everyone is seen?

So EVERYONE is a suspect? My money is on Amy Mitchell... There's a reason they recast her and she's come up back a right gobby cow!

Sounds good - the not-so-subtle swipe at the ratings is a bit pathetic though. An 8.1 year average thus far is hardly horrific, especially considering the downward spiral it went on last year.

I fail to see how a 1.4 million viewers is considered lagging. Ridiculous. Soaps ratings are always up and down. One month Corrie is on top, the next is emmerdale and the next it is EE.

Sounds like a brilliant idea

It sounds brilliant, but I hope making everyone a suspect doesn't make the story contrived. Kat's shagger story only had 5 suspects and look how bad that was. I've got a feeling this will be mostly character-driven rather than pure sensationalism, but I was slightly concerned reading the article.

Why is it going to drag on until next February though? People will either be bored sensless by then or totally let down when the mystery is solved.

I think we are going to have several mini-reveals, uncovering which characters were involved with her and how.

Everyone is a suspect... prefer it if they had five suspects, rather than the whole cast.
I hope this sl's good, we know it's a whatdunit but are we going to get any build up to it (Lucy growing close to the person who causes her death etc). Can't wait to see the promo, I'm just glad the Beales are getting a big sl they've been sidelined for too long so it's good they are having a big yr.
