can you upgrade a 5.1 dvd system to blu ray
Hi quick question. Can you upgrade a 5.1 surround sound dvd system to blu ray with out replacing the whole thing?? Could I just replace the dvd player with a 3d blu ray player or are they all interlinked?,

If you mean an all in one system where the player and amplifier are integrated into one unit then no you cannot replace the drive. Except like for like. It involves a bit more than that as there are considerable electronic changes you would need to make as well.
That is one reason why I never ever would recommend anyone buy an all in one system. No simple upgrade option other than chuck it away and buy a new one. If the system has an HDMI input on the back then it may be possible to plug in a separate Blu-Ray player. If it hasn't then that might complicate things. It may be possible to plug the player to the TV via HDMI and to the surround system via a digital audio cable. So you feed pictures to the telly and sound to the surround system. But again that relies on the surround system having appropriate inputs. |
