I think the fact that the first thing we worry about are arguments and mess-ups is quite depressing. I still watch it as a business contest.

I think unfortunately that's just what most people enjoy It makes it interesting because it makes you feel for them etc, and gets your pulse going haha!

She didn't seem too bad for most of the series (despite her less than spectacular PMship on the photography task), but seemed to go completely off the rails during the three-week losing streak she had in the last few normal tasks. Notably, she got really annoyed that Michael expected her to do anything other than just sit around and let him and Claire do all the work on the car task, and on the final task she seemed content to let Alex make all the decisions and point the finger at him when things went wrong.


Claire was a strong candidate overall, that's true... but I actually think Lee was a hugely underrated winner. He wasn't the most articulate guy around, that much is true, but he seemed to have a pretty good business brain, was a strong leader, and aside from that argument with Sara (which he actually showed remorse for, unlike Jenny) seemed to get on with people a lot better than Claire did.

Helene was given the typical 'quietly competent' edit for the first three episodes, and was throughout pretty much the whole series, apart from episodes 4, 5, 8, and 10, were she was portrayed as a bad leader, argumentative and a bad sales person. Come to think of it, she wasn't actually good at much - she was just willing to dirty her hands. She was definitely given the sympathy edit going into the final, with the interviews and The Final Five programme telling us of how her mother died etc.

I find it quite irksome at the end of the interviews, when Siralan says , 'I am going to let you all stay, he uase you're all very good,' when the Final Four from that series was nothing spectacular by any manner of means.

I don't like how Lucinda tried to play the martyr, the victim - that's probably the one thing I dislike about Lucinda.
I especially don't like how Lucinda, after Helene is trying to say that they had made up still goes ahead and bites her - would Helene really have lied about Lucinda 'tellling her personal things about her life?' Helene had the grace to acknowledge her own mistake in this clip, which is something that someone like Jenny C failed to do. She as I now understand from this clip by no means 'tried to manufacture Lucinda's firing'. Helene explains to us in this clip, that Lucinda had three options - sales, camera or backroom. Helene knew that sales wasn't Lucinda's bag, and so Lucinda had a choice of one of two techy jobs.
I just think that she often did buckle under the pressure of the show, but was by no means a bad person.
To call her 'vile' is pretty ludicrous I have now decided, especially as for an example in Task 3 she says in a VT that to gang up on Sara and scapegoat her as the PM is wrong, or something to that effect.
Helene is very unfairly name-called in my honest opinion.

Lucinda was my fave that series but I didn't really take against Helene when they would argue as I felt it was just clashing personalities. But assessing Helene on her own made me realize that overall she was incredibly average as a candidate with a miserable cynical attitude thrown in. I did question her place in the final more than any of the other 3. It didn't help though that when Alex threw Lucinda under the bus about when she started questioning her place in the process, Helene immediately jumped in with 'We all heard it'. Which reminds me that in the boardroom there was a kind of awkward desperation with how Helene spoke up for herself which contradicted that tough exterior she had during the tasks.

Agree about Lucinda on the You're Hired episode though. I remember wishing that she would have taken the high road and not wanted to get one over on her. Lucinda was already on the high road, people had been putting her on the high road throughout most of the series while trashing the other candidates. Plus she got a very nice You're Fired episode the week before. But maybe she just saw red having both Helene and Alex on the stage after what they did in her final boardroom.
Although I'm sure Lucinda enjoyed the final very much. Going into it she was stuck between Claire or Lee over who she was rooting for and she probably enjoyed seeing Alex and Helene tear eachothers hair out with Helene looking pretty useless and out of her depth and Alex in tears after being fired. Vengeance is mine sayeth Lucinda Ledgerwood.

There was a copyright claim so it was blocked in some countries. That's not really a problem so long as it's available in the UK, but I then unwittingly accepted youtubes offer to edit my video so it would be available in all countries which COMPLETELY messed up the audio, and I didn't know how to solve this.

It is that you mentioned this, because I don't remember it anymore (almost everybody else shined, for better or worse, in that task but as usual Helene was invisible).

Besides, it was Sara who was praised by Lord Sugar (or was it Nick?) so don't see the relevance of them being on the team together (which were subteams none the less; with Sara/Lee/Lucinda being one subteam if I recall correctly).

Ah yes, I remember it now (the mall task). The one where Helene put Lucinda through the wringer (perhaps that image didn't correspond with a winning effort in my brain ). And the task where the husband & wife decided to eliminate Simon.

Series 4 was a series where entertainment probably won, but the rest (business sense, moral decency etc.) all lost.
