Glad I never got round to getting a sim from them!

I should imagine the company has failed / closed. If you look in the contract of any network it says that if they can no longer provide service to you they don't owe you anything, typically something like that is in the terms, but in more legal speak.”

you still have a contract. as in an agreement with them. but even if they owe you money it seems like you are unlikely to be at the top of the list of creditors.

i'm surprised they were not able to come to a deal with their provider vodafone such that you became immediately a vodafone PAYG customer. potentially vodafone could have picked up some customers by looking good.

Really is too good to be true, but for those who've signed up to the network for more than a year would have got their money's worth out of it.

What other alternative network other than giff gaff offers good value?

3s 321 PAYG offer is probably the best for low users at the moment

More likely a bluff for a bust business model. It should have said "we are most likely out of business by Easter"

I'm sure loads have done something very similar in the UK, but not on such a grand scale. If Vodafone pulled the plug it will be because, like all the others before it, they never got paid.

I'm confident many others before Ovivo have gone insolvent at the most convenient moment.

"Although no official explanation has been offered by the company, some users suspect that Ovivo was simply unable to pay their fees."

Not much journalistic investigation there, they are simply reporting joe public 2+2=4 comments.

Yes, but I can't use mine in a tablet (for reasons only Three know). I'm holding out to see the new Three mobile broadband tariffs, and will use Samba for the time being.

At least the data speeds on Samba are fine. I just hate having to waste 1-3 minutes to earn a paltry 3.5MB!

For those who have recently bought an Ovivo sim card by debit or credit card, is it possible to get my payment back through the chargeback scheme and if so, how does it work?

The Guardian at least went to the trouble of checking Duedil.

No surprise that they had a good few multi-directors who have left many a company in their wake.

this is standard journalism. it would be unbecoming for them to speculate. so they report that others have speculated.

I love how Giffgaff doesn't include Three's PAYG tariff in its comparisons, and claims to try and be ahead of the game.

20p internet access for a day sounds great until you see it's 20p for 20MB! 20 MEGS? Seriously? And 20p/MB after that. How is the 20p a day exactly?

To be fair, the goodybags are what it's all about, but Giffgaff is totally out for me as my experience of O2 makes Vodafone look amazing (4G on O2 is good, but I'm not paying extra for it).

LOL

It took me about 2 years to accumulate 6Gb on my Samba Sim. Then I sold it for £6 as I have a 3 All You Can Eat plan now

Has anyone raised a Paypal Dispute yet for sims which you ordered recently? I ordered one on Saturday, received yesterday, and was ready to activate today then this happened

I've raised a dispute with Paypal and if anyone else is in a similar position I'd suggest you raise a dispute and escalate it asap. I don't expect to get my money back, but its worth a try.

You might be lucky if they put all payments on hold for a few days/weeks.

The resolution thing is a reverse charge process so if there is no money in the actual ebay account you are stuffed.

What is even more sneaky is that the first 1MB is charged at 20p, then the remaining 19MB are effectively free-rated.

Would the administrators be allowed to sell on email addresses? Ovivo T&Cs did state you may receive mail from third parties..

They didn't real directly with Vodafone, they used Cognatel. From their website..

Cognatel’s commitment to working closely with a new generation of MVNOs, that look beyond existing models and develop innovative propositions that enable them to target a wide variety of niche audiences and targeted segments, meant it was a perfect fit for Ovivo Mobile.

Ovivo Mobile’s innovative SIM-only service was developed with support from Cognatel and operates across the Vodafone UK network.

Customers of Ovivo Mobile are encouraged to sign up friends and family via Facebook in return for rewards that include additional free usage, free and cut price phone deals, and competitions.

There are no long term contracts or monthly commitments and the volume and duration of ads is tightly controlled to safeguard the overall customer experience.

Ovivo Mobile CEO and founder Dariush Zand said: “We are committed to setting customers free from the traditional mobile experience. We can offer hugely competitive prices because we will make our money out of mobile advertising revenue.

“The support we received from Cognatel enabled Ovivo Mobile to get to market quickly and effectively with a very compelling value proposition compared to anything else out there in the marketplace.”

Ovivo Mobile has teamed up with Google and Adfonic to deliver highly-targeted mobile advertising and is now planning to engage young people and students via events including music festivals, the 2012 Olympics and universities’ Freshers’ Weeks.”

The t&c's are only valid, presumably, during the agreement, which they have now cancelled. So I doubt it.

Plus why would the likes of price Waterhouse be indulging such.
