Is it that? Or is it that all characters in soaps generally end up in romantic trysts, and the pool of available candidates is too small? There's only so many times you can pull off the 'gay person falls in love with a member of the opposite sex' twist.

Their colour appears to matter to you. They
were two characters who hadn't had a resolution - there was no plan when Mickey or Martha were cast for them to get paired up. Rose, Donna, Jackie, they all got paired off in happy-ever-after couples. Even Jack got a shot at redemption - and they had to specifically clarify that a past character was gay for him to get a match.
I'm more bothered that Martha's previous fiance got ditched without so much as a word.
