This is most likely an issue with your ISP, not the iPad.

My wife has not noticed on hers - as Mystic Eddy says most likely an ISP especially as it's at certain times and the evening is the busiest time for an ISP

Are you using Safari? I get this lots in my iPad. You have to hit refresh to get a web page to load. I've seen quite a few issues relating to this on forums.

And if it's just in the evenings the fault must be with the ISP rather than the iPad itself. |

Safari doesn't help. Crashes a lot on the iPad (iOS 7, 7.1 a bit better but still not right). Try Chrome. And clear the cache quite often as that helps a bit with mine.

I find that ever so often with iPads it helps to do the double-tap on the home button then swipe Safari upwards to unload it from memory. When you next open it you then get a fresh instance rather than one that's been loaded in the background waiting for you. You should only need to do it every couple of days or so.
Safari has a few memory leaks on OSX, so I suspect it suffers the same on iOS. |

I'm a bit of a noviceTo clear the cache you need to go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. To close applications in the "multi-tasking" view (when you've double clicked the "home" button) you just swipe the app window up with a finger until it disappears from the carousel. Edit: have you tried using a third-party browser like Google Chrome to see how that behaves? The most recent version includes a bandwidth monitor that compresses some features like high res images which would make select sites faster. |

Are you running 7.1 on your iPad Air? I've found the recent iOS update has made Safari a bit faster on my iPad Mini with Retina Display.

Who is your ISP, out of interest? I find, even with Virgin Media, once America starts waking up the Internet slows down. |

Could also be collisions on Wi-Fi, if your neighbours have similar Internet habits. Try with some computer connected via cable. Or with iPad tethered to phone to bypass your Wi-Fi setup.

![]() Have you rebooted your Hub/router recently? That's always a good idea. If you still have access to a PC you can download InSSIDer, which will show you how many wireless networks are overlapping and what channels they are using. |

I find the Chrome browser is far better than Safari on my Ipad Air. It also has all my bookmarks from my pc which is helpful.

I can't get that swipe up to work since updating from iOS 6 to 7 and now 7.1. I double click the home button and the app icons appear but there's no getting rid of them. ??

No problem with Safari or wifi and 4G on my Air.
As mentioned, sounds like a problem with your ISP or wifi settings. |

Having just moved from an iPad3 to an Air and my wife is using an IPad2 I have been able to compare all three. The iPad Air loads pages much quicker than the iPad2 or 3 under normal circumstances.
I am also with BT with an average download speed of 9 to 10 Mbps, there are times in the evenings when page loading is slower however streaming video from iPlayer, for example, still works fine. The bandwidth, especially on copper lines, has limitations. Isp's have to manage the amount of traffic on the lines especially at peak times. More and more people are streaming TV and video over the Internet so much more bandwidth is being used now than a year or two ago. In order to allow stable streaming iSP's will limit some traffic over their system and general web browsing is probably one of them. We have a desktop and two laptops In the house too and they are no quicker than the iPads at loading web pages. As has already been stated, depending on what you do, the iPad is not a complete replacement for a computer. In my opinion the iPad Air is currently the best tablet available on the market and in your situation I doubt very much that it is the cause of the problems you seem to be having. |

Without doubt it is the most crippling web experience of any tablet OS on the market. |

Care to toss us some examples? I mean, without the inevitable mention of not having Flash.
