This is a similar thread to "Artist v Artist - winner stays on" except that one of the artists doing battle must be male and the other must be female.
My definition of "male artist" is as follows:-
A solo male singer
A solo male musician
An all-male duo
An all-male vocal group
An all-male band

Duos, groups or bands consisting of both male and female members will not be allowed. However, I'm willing to allow the all-male early incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, provided they're referred to as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.
I'm going to start with Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin. If the next poster selects Otis, his next opponent must be female. If the next poster selects Aretha, her next opponent must be male.
