Time To Upgrade My Blackberry
via_487

It's time to upgrade my mobile. It's a two-years-old Blackberry 3G (on an Orange 'Panther' contract) and I'm very attached to it.
Now I know that Blackberry is having problems and I worry about what will eventually happen to the company.
But I love my Blackberry and love what it does, so finding a replacement/upgrade will be difficult.

This is what I need:
Most important:
1)Push email and the ability to control at least 6 email accounts from my phone.
2) Qwerty keyboard (I still struggle with the touch keyboard). I use it a lot.

Slightly less important but still required:
3) A good instant messaging service.
4) Data compression, so I don't end up with huge bills.
5) Good, long-lasting battery.
6) 3g/4g internet browsing when necessary
7) Intuitive/relatively easy operating system

Desirable, but of lesser importance:
8) Touch screen
9) Decent camera
10) Social Networking

From that list, it appears to me that I need another Blackberry (Q5?, Bold?).
But if anyone has other recommendations, or views on the later Blackberry models/operating systems, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks

If you already love your blackberry, why not try the new Blackberry Q10? It seems to have quite good reviews everywhere, and won't be too much of a departure for you.

That's a great review I hadn't read.
Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

Just remember that much of the data compression and battery life on the "traditional" Blackberrys are by virtue of using BIS (Blackberry Internet Service).

The new BB OS10 does not use BIS, so your data costs may well increase.

Sometimes, just sometimes, newer tech is not necessarily an improvement...

Of course no other phones use data compression via BIS either, so it's really them adopting the generally accepted norm

Well, either that or abandoning a USP. Depends which way you look at it really....

Point still stands for the OP though. Just playing devil's advocate, but if there's nothing actually wrong with an existing device and there's potentially no viable replacement.....
