My wife bought a new smartphone this week. She didnt have a Google account but to get started, she needed one, so I just used one of mine, one that I dont use anymore.

Now she has all my phone contacts/Whatsapp contacts/emails etc on her phone - she's not happy.

No problem I thought, easily create an account for her....but the problem we now have is there seems to be NO WAY that we can get rid of/sign out of/delete my account on her phone.

We dont want to do a Factory reset at this stage as apparently there are some games on the phone which you cant get anymore & the kids wouldnt forgive me.

Ive tried Google search but that hasnt helped as I am not very techie!

Settings>Accounts>Google>Account Name>3 Dots Menu>Remove Account

That will get rid of anything to do with your Gmail account. She can then start afresh with the new account of her own.

Thanks. All done - except she has lost some numbers from her contact list. No major drama hopefully.

people get confused in respect of the google account and gmail account. whilst they are related, they are not the same thing.

but it is perfectly possible to remove a google account as described above.
