YouView and Freeview + PVRs rely for the most part on the broadcasters getting the Accurate Recording signals bang on.

Unfortunately they don't always do so. ITV are usually one of the better ones, but they do sometimes get the signals wrong too resulting in the recording missing the start or end of a recording. From what I remember the AR signals are added at the main transmitters for each area, which can sometimes result in the signals being accurate in one region but slightly off in another. I've had no problems at all with the two programmes you mentioned, I'm on Emley Moor transmitter in Yorkshire. However, last night's The Hoarder Next Door on Channel 4 was 14 minutes late in starting recording, probably due to an error in the AR signals as well.

Might be worth telling us what transmitter you are tuned to, and others on the same transmitter can let you know if they experienced the same issues.

Unfortunately YouView PVRs have no way of adding padding to a scheduled recording, or of setting recordings manually, so you are stuffed if the broadcasters mess up the signals.

I am also having these problems. Wrote to STV and they confirmed that they are aware of a problem with Youview recorders and that the problem is being looked at. Again last night Law & Order UK finished early both on STV HD and also on STV+1. It appears that ITV put in the start and end signals for the recordings and that STV only need to have slightly longer advert breaks for the problem to happen.
