You will find the transition from contemporary to classic episodes more difficult if you are viewing them for the first time.

Thank you so much for this - Horror Channel isn't one I visit often, but for William Hartnell I'm happy to make an exception

Thanks for highlighting this.

I've never got into the new incarnation of Doctor Who so never visit that part of the forum, but I still enjoy watching the old ones.

Yes I found it a bit odd the first time, but I now own some classic who on DVD and BluRay, yes I got into it just as well in the end!
If you can see past the poor sets, effects and other technical aspects and just see the story its well worth it!

Just set my series link, but I have a fear its only going to record all episodes of an Unearthly Child rather than all the episodes from all stories Anyway, I may be proved wrong ....

I wish that a channel would repeat every single classic episode in order, right from the beginning to the 1989 season, including all the newly found missing episodes. Surely this could be possible for a channel like UK Gold or Watch.

I think it will record all stories but can you keep checking what it is doing? Will you be at home when the first episode of the next story is on? But often I don't trust my sky box either!

Last Friday, when I set up the series link for my Virgin Media V+, the series link looked all to cock. I had to trawl through tomorrows EPG listings and add some episodes manually!

Earlier tonight, i'm sure that I heard the female in-vision continuity announcer say that they were showing the programme from the very beginning up until 1985. Obviously, they won't be able to show any missing episodes, but isn't there a case where one of a two part story survives? I wonder if they'll show that?

I must say that The Horror Channel were very brave in showing monchrome programmes at peak time earlier this evening. Even the channel that was set up to show older material (Bravo) eventually changed to colour programming as it proved to be unpopular.

It's a shame that the episodes haven't been colourised to be more appealing to the younger generations.

I've only ever seen clips of the black and white series before and they looked old and grainy, but the episodes that I watched earlier this evening looked to be of a decent quality. I wonder why that was, perhaps they've been remastered

I think they have been remastered, the BBC pay a lot of attention to detail when it comes to Doctor Who, as it is so well loved by the fans!
Of course as its so well loved, they know they can sell the DVDs/BluRays if they clean things up, the 'Terror of the Autons' even got a BluRay transfer as it was filmed entirely on 16mm film, which I have on BluRay!
