Of course as its so well loved, they know they can sell the DVDs/BluRays if they clean things up, the 'Terror of the Autons' even got a BluRay transfer as it was filmed entirely on 16mm film, which I have on BluRay!”

You mean Spearhead from Space?

Interesting how few posts there have been on this thread compared to many other Who-related ones. Seems that there are some fans who will take endlessly about trivia on present day episodes but have a total lack of interest in any of Who's history.

More likely to be Emily Booth who does a lot of stuff for the Horror Channel

Nice to see remastered versions are being used, but is anyone getting occasional audio dropouts?

I still have the Mind Robber as a converted Vhs to Dvd I did a few years ago (the old telerecording! ).

Do hope that isn't gonna happen with all episodes, especially ones I didn't have first time round.

I managed to watch most of An Unearthly Child last night on Horror Channel. It seems I was wrong in assuming that the un-remastered episodes would be shown.

It looked as though the DVD versions were shown.

I haven't managed to see any "Who" on the Channel today though. I was busy this morning and part of this afternoon. I did catch about twenty minutes of "A Christmas Carol" on 'Watch' with Matt's Doctor.

Will try to watch Peter and Colin of Horror Channel tomorrow, if I get time.

Have they done a slight edit to Terror Of The Autons?

On the black and white telerecording, there was an fault with the picture when the doll was being examined.

On the original recoloured version for Bbc Video, that section was marked by using the raw USA video recording instead.

Unless I've missed it, I don't recall seeing it in this repeat.

It was my first time watching the Mind Robber, what a fantastic run of episodes! Loved it, I think it's my new favorite of the classics

Never seen the old Dr Who eps prior to and after Tom Baker, so this will be heaven sent to me. Loving it already! Got them all on record to watch at my convenience

It was only the first Patrick Troughton story I'd ever seen in full, after the recent one-story-per-classic-Doctor-fest of the 50th anniversary celebrations, and he and William Hartnell's incarnations are the two I'm still the least familiar with in terms of 'feel' and stories - I was born in 1967, so Jon Pertwee's final story was my first proper exposure to Doctor that I remember with any clarity (although I'm sure I watched a few before that too because the sight of him dressed up as the 3rd Doctor is so familiar to me).

I really enjoyed it - all sorts of weird in the story-telling, and very creepy in places. I've saved it in the planner to show my teenage daughters (who were introduced to Doctor Who through mainly through the 2005 revival, but who have heard me 'bang on' about the classic series enough to want to find out more!) because it will help them give a real personality to the 2nd Doctor. And of course, it was the first time I'd seen Zoe and Jamie as companions.

To be honest, The Mind Robber reminded me of the premise of the Jasper Fforde book 'The Eyre Affair' (a bonkers book, with many sequels, which presents the world of literary fiction as a real place where murders needs to be solved - you have to read it to get it, really!) and I wonder now if Mr Fforde got some of his inspiration from this story where literary fiction becomes a kind of 'fact' for The Doctor.

Anyway, have the rest that were broadcast yesterday lined up in the planner to watch later (have to get my Formula 1 fix first!) and the others all set to record. I watched the Like others, I wish there was a more structured and comprehensive pattern to repeats of classic Doctor Who (I can't remember details as to why, but I think posters in the past have explained some of the reasons why that would be difficult to achieve...?) but this is certainly more than I remember having access to in recent years since having access to Sky channels, and it's nice to have some different stories in addition to those chosen for the 50th anniversary classic repeats, so for now I'm very grateful for what I have!

The mind robber has been a favourite of mine for about ten years.... Terror of the autons is a more recent favourite.

Been wanting to watch brain of morbius since night of the doctor.

"am I back on Kahn".... Yes I am

Never seen the three that's on today. Only ever seen one Colin baker.

Well heavy rain has killed my satellite signal on Horror, and I seem to be recording 30 minutes of 'no or bad signal' mostly.

Other channels are ok, but they're probably on a different satellite with a stronger signal.

IIRC the DVD version uses CGI for that short section, but somehow blended with the raw USA video recording to make it look less CGI-ish.

(It's not the only one. The DVD of Keys of Marinus also uses a very short section of CGI in part 2, to replace a damaged section of telerecording.)

Really? I watch that for the first time today and I was really disappointed.

The Masters rise to the top of the plastic company was kinda dull(except for the inflatable chair part xD) and it was just bad that his whole masterplan to takeover the earth with the Autons was squashed by one small comment from the Doctor. It made him look so weak.

I did like the Doctors speech at the end saying he is looking forward to meeting the Master again but for his first story, the Master looked far from formidable...

I was wondering the same about the series link and set them individually just in case. Anyone know for sure how it should work?

I did the first episode of each story but missed out Androzani as I already had the 90's Bbc 2 repeat albeit from analogue Vhs off air. (It still picked it up via Series Link though! )

( I taped the black & whites as they appeared to be Vidfired, along with Autons, plus I could upgrade from the copied from Vhs to Dvd copies I had. Morbius I've never seen, Attack, my existing copy was ex Uk Gold. Remberance, as I didn't have a copy.

Seeds & Daleks, again to replace a Uk Gold copy.

Horror seemed to have picked a lotta DW stories with scary elements - Terror,
Brain, Caves (the deformed masked villain), and Attack.

Watching Hartnell's first Dalek story yesterday, showed how unlikeable his Doctor was at first. He used an excuse for the fluid link being empty, when it wasn't, just so he could visit the city. Imagine if Hartnell had been the Doctor today, he wouldn't have been popular with the audience.

Sky plussed the Daleks.

Is it just my box that hasn't taped Episode 3?

Sky Epg says it's rated 12, it's blank where the channel name should be, and it says its no longer available!

Oh well, there's always my Uk Gold copy I suppose!

Great sound effects and incidental music on the Dalek series

Jon Pertwee:
7th May 3 Doctors
9th May Planet of the Daleks
14th May Green Death
19th May Death to the Daleks
21st May Planet of the Spiders

Tom Baker:
26th May The Ark in Space
28th May Genesis Of The Daleks
2nd June Planet of Evil
4th June The Android Invasion

Apart from the 7 we had at Easter they are clearly going in chronological order. We will have had 2 Hartnell, 2 Troughton and 8 Pertwee stories.

Given that we've been promised 30, I would guess about 10 Tom Baker but only a few from the last 3 doctors.

Rather disappointing the low number from Hartnell & Troughton since I was too young to see them first time around.

Yes, the music is brilliant! Have got the 4 CD Boxset called 'The 50th Anniversary Collection'. It features a lot of incidental music and sounds from every Doctor, including most of the different versions of the theme tune.

I now have the Dominic Glynn, Keff McCulloch and John Debney versions of the theme used in 1986, 1987-89, and 1996. Didn't have those before. They've been difficult to get hold of for years.
