I'm glad we're through the Pertwee era now, his po-faced seriousness really dragged the show down for me.
Why would you want to travel around space and time with someone who reduced the fun and wonder to something akin to an exam that he is constantly disappointed in you for failing?

Contrary to the highly dubious post reporting on a 7yr olds thoughts about the episode above, you can tell when Original Who has the legs to stretch through 5/6/7 episodes and when they're blatantly padding to fill time.
I'd be all for a few more 2 or even 3 parters in the Modern era but 6+ is stretching it beyond breaking point in all but the top 5% of episodes.

Still, he's gone now. Begin, Tom Baker, lets have some FUN ”

Well I agree about the padding but that is a feature of practically every story in the era of Old Who. I must step up to defend Pertwee though who was very charismatic. He certainly impressed my five year old self who refused to watch the first episodes featuring Tom Baker because he couldn't possibly be the real Doctor. The son of a friend of mine is currently in exactly the same position in that he is insisting that Peter Capaldi is far too mean-looking to be the Doctor and that he is not going to watch now that Matt Smith is gone. I am sure he will come around just like I did.

Well I just don't like it when The Doctor, and by extension the show itself, takes himself too seriously.

True there were a few moments where the Doctor's pomposity was pricked, but there were no where near enough to my liking.

Oh well, each to their own.

According to HC website these stories are still to come in June:

City of Death
Genesis of the Daleks
Horror of Fang Rock!
Masque of Mandragora
Planet of Evil
Snakedance (but not Kinda, which seems weird)
Android Invasion
The Deadly Assassin
The Robots of Death!!
Talons of Weng-Chiang!!!

along with repeats of previously-shown episodes like Terror of the Autons, which I missed at Easter as the Sky box failed during a storm.

it looks like Horror channel has the rights to these stories for a while and they are repeating ones they feel are popular.
Its a shame they are missing loads out too!
I understand that there would have been many 1st and 2nd Doctor stories they couldn't do ether as they are missing or less popular, but they could have shown more John Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Collin Baker and Sylvester McCoy stories and War Games as it was a regeneration story.

They had to show Horror of Fang Rock, only story to have horror in the title! I think they will show a couple of Sylvester McCoy ones. From the clips, it looks like either Ghost Light or Curse of Fenric.

So that makes 9 eps from the first half of Tom Baker, but only one from the last half, before moving on to Davison

I guess they're showing the acknowledged classics.

Watching Ark in Space was struck how the female looked very like Sue Lawley and also by how terrible some of the direction/staging is - its always worth looking at the actors not speaking or reacting in a given scene. They usually resemble statues.

It's strange some channels can get the Sky Plus settings right for the start of the programme & some can't.

It's a bugger transferring these to Dvd!

How about transferring them to VHS, thats what Im doing as I dont have a DVD recorder or a video capture card!
I suppose in the future I could transfer them on to DVD, but at a loss in quality as they are now already in VHS format!

I would have loved to see the 1st through to the seventh in order
I am happy seeing random stories though but it shows how dire modern who is
I caught an advert for a ST: Next Gen ep and the Doctor Who from the early 80's had a lot better effects and characters

But surely I'd have the same problem, where the 'marker' for the EPG changeover is not right at the start of the program, missing the titles etc.

Someone might say 'Well alter the settings on your box' , but why should I when most channels can get it correct!

Even happens with the Bewitched & Jeannie repeats on Gold.

Strange Robot, Sontaran Experiment & Revenge Of The Cybermen wasn't shown then, coupled with the showings of Spiders, Ark In Space & Genesis, then you could have had a consecutive run of episodes, including the whole of Season 12!

Judging by the schedules over on the Horror Channel, it looks like Horror Channel are only showing three Peter Davison stories Snakedance, Resurrection of the Daleks and Caves of Androzani Even though those stories are pretty good, they could at least of shown more Davison.

Mark of the Rani is one story Horror Channel will be showing from the Colin Baker era.

Given we have been promised 30 stories, the current cycle will end in early July.

But then I imagine they will just start repeating them.

So if you have missed any, there will be another chance.

Are you sure? so far Horror have only had access to stories that weren't broadcast on Watch last November and Fenric I think might have been the Sylvester McCoy one they did, as they did one for each Doctor, if I remember rightly:

1st Doctor : The Aztecs
2nd Doctor: The Tomb of the Cybermen
3rd Doctor: Spearhead from Space
4th Doctor: Pyramids of Mars
5th Doctor: Earthshock
6th Doctor: Vengeance on Varos
7th Doctor: I think was Fenric Im just not 100% sure about this one though!
8th Doctor: was the movie of course
9th Doctor: was Dalek I think
10th and 11th I cant remember what they used.

Like you say though we will find out tomorrow!

It was Battlefield they showed for Sylvester McCoy that was broadcast on Watch last year for the 50th anniversary celebrations.

17: The Brain of Morbius
18: The Masque of Mandragora

22: Horror of Fang Rock
23: City of Death
24: Snakedance

and in order:

1: An UnEarthy Child

3: The Mind Robber
4: The Seeds of Death
5: Terror of the Autons
6: The Dæmons
7: The Sea Devils
8: The Three Doctors
9: Planet of the Daleks
10: The Green Death
11: Death to the Daleks
12: Planet of the Spiders
13: The Ark in Space
14: Genesis of the Daleks
15: Planet of Evil
16: The Android Invasion
17: The Brain of Morbius
18: The Masque of Mandragora
19: The Deadly Assassin
