I'm disappointed that Horror Channel didn't show much William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy stories. Most of the stories seem to be from the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker era especially Tom Baker.

Oh well nevermind its good to get Classic Who repeats anyway.

To be fair, Pertwee and T Baker are the more popular classic Doctors, so they are more likely to show them.

So there we have it the 30 stories that Horror have rights to at the moment. I wonder if they plan on repeating the lot over once they are done?”

Well Masque of Mandragora was affected by the heavy rain on my Sky Plus so I hope that gets a repeat.

I still had my 1993 Planet Of The Daleks so I made a new off air copy using those but replacing the black and white episode 3 with the Horror Channel colour copy!

Some more Davison would've been nice. The Awakening, Black Orchid, Earthshock, The Visitation and Kinda are more than watchable.

Either way, I've really enjoyed the Horror Channel's stories so far. I'm up to Mask of Mandragora now. It's amazing how quickly they stack up on the recorder unless I watch them regularly.

Watching these for the first time (yes really) I'm struck by how the writers borrow rather generously from other sources - Planet of Evil was clearly ripping off Fantastic Planet while
The Deadly Assassin plunders Manchurian Candidate and The Most Dangerous Game.

its a shame about Masque of Mandragora for you the only issue I've had so far is Brain of Morbius and that was only going into the first few seconds of the credits in one episode back at Easter. Everything else has been fine.

And the Doctor being chased by a plane like Cary Grant in NbyNW.

Check out the Androids of Tara for a REALLY obvious rip-off

The problem I had earlier with the 'switch off' signal not being received, has reared its head again, so as a consquence, I now have a recording from the Horror Channel from
12/6 lasting 578 minutes from 10am through to 730pm, after I got home from work, causing CLASH on everything else I taped.

(I've now decided to give up on Bewitched & Jeannie, as I won't have the time or the space on my box to keep up with watching them, along with Who & the TOTP repeats!)

On the plus side, shan't need to tape Talons as I already have the DVD!

Need to go into town tomorrow, so might have a look in CEX as well.

I think you definitely need to get that box looked at! Oh and you could do manual recordings of the horror channel from 9.50 till 11.10, obviously check that they are showing Who at those times still, but they dont change the schedules like the main channels do, so no chopping off of part way though!

I had An Unearthly Child and The Daleks as part of the Beginnings box set so I skipped them like your skipping Talons, I dont have the others though so am archiving them all.

After recording various "Who" stories off the Horror Channel, are you copying them to DVD?

I wish I knew how to copy my Sky Plus recordings to DVD. Would love to put all 6 episodes of Ricky Gervais's Derek onto DVD from my Sky box. Dunno how to do it, though.

Going to be recording EastEnders Greatest Exits on Watch, on Sunday evening. It's a 2 hour programme, that was once two 50 minutes ones from BBC Three in October 2010. I'd love to get that copied onto DVD too.

On another note, I think I may have to get a Sky Engineer out, as about once every two or three days, I have to turn my tv and box off at the wall, for a minute or two, when my remote fails to get a signal to the TV. I press the buttons on the remote, but nothing seems to happen. In that situation, I can't use Sky. The TV Guide doesn't come up.

I know it's the Box that's the problem and not the remote, as a few days ago, I put fresh AA batteries in, from a new packet.

Assuming you have connected the box to the Dvd recorder, the easiest (only ?) way to do this is to play the Sky recording &
record 'live' on the Dvd recorder.

Obviously you'll have to pause out the breaks which will be hit & miss depending on how alert both you & the Dvd recorder are. (Watch it in the Dvd monitoring mode as well! )

To be honest, I'm keeping the box until it goes, then would I get an Hd box as a replacement as mine is an Sd Plus box?

I've also got the Beginning as well, but I've also kept some older recordings as they were either Bbc off airs, as they would have been as original format more or less, or transferred sell through Vhs onto Dvd instead.

I know about the quality issues though!

Well I record onto VHS (just because I dont have a DVD recorder), but you can use the same connections to record onto a DVD recorder, the 'video' scart on the older boxes, or the RCA composite video and L&R audio connectors on the new boxes, as DVD will only do SD anyway even if you have a HD box.

About the remote issue are you pressing the 'TV' button by mistake? That button will stop you using the SKY functions till you press 'SKY' on the remote.
If however that does not solve the issue then yes get an engineer out to check the box, or at least phone up SKY and talk it over with them, as if you dont have their insurance they will charge about £60 for a call out!
Oh if you still have an old box (none HD box), they may do you a deal on a new one so ask about that before an engineer call out!

I've had problems with episodes being recorded twice - ie on the "real time" channel and +1, though I have had extended recording incidents in the past. Its clear that Horror have some playout issues (I've noticed that +1 is prone to an initial silence of up to a minute or more when putting it on). Anyway I now just do it manually.

Managed to find the Sontaran Experiment at Cex today.

Anyone noticed that Horror has reverted back to its standard break bumpers now rather than the special Who ones?

Just a one off as the Who bumpers are back for Robots Of Death after being absent during Deadly Assassin!

Anyone noticed the weekend omnibus repeats?

Death To The Daleks today & tomorrow with Morbius next weekend.

Yes the omnibus repeat of Terror of the Autons, last weekend, I thought was very odd, are they doing it for all the weekend repeats then?

I noticed that they did add breaks only on the point between episodes, so essentially the episodes are being shown in full without breaks, but you miss all titles and credits except titles for episode 1 and credits for the last episode.
They are showing the reprise at the beginning of each episode though, as there is the add break between episodes!

They've never supplied generic end credits on the omnibus repeats have they?

Does anyone know who is responsible for this editing? It's a bit clumsy in places. There is a noticeable glitch just as the Doctor and Bellal approach the red & white floor puzzle, where episode 3 ended.

Back at Easter, all episodes were shown separately.

Thing is will they repeat as 25 minutes or will repeats only appear as omnibuses?

Apparently Death to the Daleks was released on VHS in omnibus format, perhaps they were using that version.

Then they start repeating them.

I'm disappointed that Horror Channel haven't included at least a further two stories like Vengeance on Varos and Revelation of the Daleks for the Colin Baker era. They should of at least shown more stories for Peter Davison and Colin Baker.
