I've recorded this to watch and I must admit I was wondering what all the fuss was about, thinking surely it can't be that bad?

It can't - it's worse!

What a horror story. Who on earth though that was suitable to release?

The BBC is digging its own grave atm, what with the Jonathan Creek episodes and now this.

Anyone still paying for a licence?

Maybe the people who oversee this kind of thing (remember the Doctor Who sound problems?) don't pay enough attention to basic quality issues and concentrate on budgets, reputations of producers and writers and whether 'big' named actors are involved.

The most basic things they need to check are whether ordinary people with ordinary eyesight and hearing and ordinary TV equipment in ordinary houses will actually be able to see the footage and hear the dialogue. If not, someone's cocked up and their reputation needs to take a big hit. I bet those responsible are young-ish and check the footage using the best, most expensive equipment under ideal conditions. They need listening panels of normal people with imperfect hearing and older equipment to judge acceptable minimum quality.”

Really good well made points. Have to say I totally agree.

Why would it be un pc to dress an actor up as a albino?

It is like that, except they don't seem to be going for any acting awards here...

Someone on here last night said Jessica Brown Finlay deserves a Bafta for this.

Although saying that Sean Harris is up for a Bafta for Southcliffe. So anything is possible if he can get a Bafta nomination for mumbling through another drama anyone can. Best mumbling in a supporting role.

(Whereas if SH tried it on, I'd just tell him to sod off, and probably kick him in the nuts if he didn't go away, lol. )

What do others think?”

They should have had Sean Bean!

He's a very weaselly villain.

Worrying, eh? I even read that one poster said JBF's performance reminded them of Judi Dench in her prime!

Yes that was the same poster. I think it must be her agent.

Strangely the only character I find the most interesting is Joss, the least audible unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing what happens to him tonight.

The other characters don't interest me at all. The vicar and Mary's aunt are good actors.

Mary and Jess's brother lack personallity and passion. I find their scenes together boring. There's no chemistry between them.

The moor scenes are quite haunting. I like them

We could improve this by playing a drinking game.... Down one for each mumbled line? Down another for each scene too dark to see?

Just put this on to see how episode three is (didn't pay attention to last night's episode). Very clear monologue from Miss Brown-Findlay so far!

It was the same last night. The trouble starts when they start speaking to one another.
