The Carter's came in with a "dark" family history to explore. Johnny Carter had a "dark" secret. Ronnie's character is taking a "dark" turn. Lucy's death will involve "dark" circumstances. I could go on but I'm sure you get the point!

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this!

The word is overused in soaps most of the time you are left disappointed.

In soaps in general.

It's always dark and they always have secrets.

But that's the way we like them.

Because people usually imply that 'dark' means something relentlessly horrifying, demeaning and nihilistic.

Nobody's said that, but clearly the EP's description of "dark" means something sinister and dramatic.

Lorraine Newman would've loved Thursday's second episode with the sickly sweet dialogue and cheese.

The community feel in the funeral episodes and during the market protest in February is how 'love and warmth' (for want of a better phrase) should be done.

We're gonna have to rename the show to "DarkEnders" at this rate. Everyone will dress in black and walk around with miserable, lifeless expressions like zombies.
