Hi - just wondered if anyone has tethered on the the euro internet pass? It would be to android tablet, I know it says tethering is not permitted but wondered if anyone has managed to get it to work - I'm hoping if it is between 2 android devices it would work??

Thanks

I had problems just using my handset in France. I kept getting a tethering not allowed page. I wouldn't rely on it working.

Didn't work for me in Sweden. Detected the tethering really quick too - as in a matter of minutes. This was a long time ago though, but I have no reason to think it will have changed (and so I've never tried on recent visits).

But, sometimes people can get away with things for some time, like tethering in the UK even without tethering as part of their tariff.

Worked fine for me in Paris - but you have to have the same platform.

I tethered my Nexus 7 and my wife's Nexus 7 (but never at the same time) to my HTC One and downloaded about 1 Gb of data. All browsers were the same etc and all on android.

I've often thought that tethering to any other Android device (phone or tablet) doesn't trigger the tethering detection.

If they're basing detection primarily on user-agent, which past evidence suggests they do, then yeah, another Android mobile device should be fine.

Or as always, VPN.

Through my own fault (had a local SIM and didn't know the PIN off the top of my head when I restarted the phone) I had to use my Three SIM and the Euro Internet Pass (luckily just for a couple of hours). And I think with performances like that I won't be bothering again.
For whatever reason whenever I used the app Öffi (journey planner) I got the tethering warning (and at no time did I even try to tether!). Whenever I was on Edge, internet didn't work at all. And again speeds were pretty low, trying to stream YouTube just ended up in buffering. It might be ok for a bit of browsing, but that's it.
Think I am off better paying €14.99 for 3GB (4G) than paying £5 a day.

That is my experience too. I'm happy to pay £25 per GB to EE so that I do not have to put up with the limits.

Poorly written app then, must be reporting as a non mobile user agent in the headers it is putting into web requests. Try and avoid the app and use one that is coded properly.

Speed limits when VPN/streaming/tethering (remote desktop in my case). They made my service (one plan and mobile broadband 15GB) unusable for work. I ended up tethering via an EE mobile instead, with no problems.
