I send some TV programmes out to a relative in the colonies on Blue-Ray disc. I normally use Standard Play as it gives a good compromise on quality and capacity. There will be often some time left on the disc so I will edit a half hour programme down to that length to fill up the space but I noticed that I can record as LP and EP on the same disc to fill up the disc, obviously at lower quality.

These playback on my player OK and also my laptop but wonder if there are any problems with other BR players with mixed formats like this?

I cannot help at the moment BUT as i never realised .. having only cut my First BD last week ..that it was possible to play them in some Laptops..
I have tried multiple formats on the one disc and no probl;ems playing them..In fact the 20 year old VHS tapes in LP are better detailed than many live progs on the TV..
I will look into later this evening..so thanks lundavra..

Thanks, I just don't want to find that some types of player can't handle it.

The BluRay specs cover a wide range of formats, including standard DVD formats of 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC) MPEG2, not just HD and MPEG4 formats.

If your files are either in, or converted to, one of the standard formats then they should play without problems in any BluRay player (at least that's the theory).

Here's the Wikipedia section of acceptable video formats:

I was asking about a disc with more than one format on it, wondering if any types of player have problems.

The consensus seems to be that no one has come across any that do so I should be OK.

The extras on Blu-ray disks are often a different format to the main 1080p 24 feature.

At a guess you will have to author a title in a fixed format and not change format in the middle.
