Murray Gold is genius

I now realise why I absolutely love the theme to The Musketeers.

Capaldi AND Gold (and last night Pertwee)

I figured it wasn't so tenuous as to mention it here!

Don't watch musketeers personally, but in response to the thread title, yes murray gold is a genius. From the multiple renderings of I am the doctor, to the music in the background of ten's regeneration scene, to the heartbreaking music to accompany the heartbreaking scenes in when the doctor loses rose in doomsday and then wipes donna's mind in journeys end. the scrip makes you feel, but his music accentuates and hightens that feeling the way only the perfect music can.

One thing though, and I know not everyone will agree, but I don't really consider there to be any memorable pieces of music from the last two series, apart from the music during the 11-12 regeneration whereas in past series there were loads

There's a few pieces from Gold in the past couple of years I've absolutely loved, though most of my favourite stuff from him was admittedly earlier on. However I liked his emotive efforts for The Angels Take Manhattan...and then these songs in particular are wonderful...

This seemed as an appropriate place to post as any, but does anyone think this is where Murray Gold got some inspiration from?

Listen to this track... it is undeniably Doctor Who-ish

That is damned similar after about 45 seconds in, right down to the unusual 7/4 time signature.

Blimey! I was expecting some tenuous similarities but that's pretty damned blatant. Not saying its plagiarism. Not at all. But remarkable all the same.

Since this thread is about murray gold music, just thought I'd ask, what is the music playing in the background of themost recent regeneration?

Nobody could listen to that part and not think of the 11th Doctor's theme. It's so close to being a ripoff...

There isn't an official release yet (I imagine there will be later this year, or next year once Series 8 is done). There is a rather good cut of it on Youtube called "Raggedy Man, Goodnight". The track is basically a non-vocal reimagining of The Long Song from The Rings of Akhaten.

I thought that series 7 had a spectatular soundtrack, Infinite Potential, The Leaf, Remember Me, A Secret he will take to the grave, To Save The Doctor, and Clara's theme were all brilliant.

From Wikipedia:

"Mass Effect 2, the second main game in the series, was released on January 26, 2010 in North America and January 29 in Europe"

I hate to name drop but I actually know Murray and I find that a bit rude. I honestly believe he would never do that and actually that is quite a serious accusation.

In fact scrap that...I've been totally silly and there is an abbreviated version already released on the Series 7 soundtrack called 'Infinite Potential'. I accidentally missed it...sorry about that.
