So can you clarify for not just me but I am guessing most of us the ruling please

I do not get points for changing a non runner because it was after the first race EVEN though you said that is ok. Both myself and scorer changed.

Even though you, as chairman, didn't know the rules ?

I won't be doing it again, and I now appreciate the fact that tso, Swing and yourself do so much hard work in your own competitions.

One thing I would like to think I would do is message everyone or post that there is a rule change because if there isn't everyone will assume its the same rules as always. We must have done over 100 of these comps over the years

Just to confirm for tomorrow, you must pick replacements for any NRs before the start of the 1st race (or you can pick reserves). If any of your picks are declared NRs after the start of the 1st race or you do not pick a replacement on one that was declared a NR before the 1st race you will be on the unnamed favourite.

I'll send some PMs as well.

Without wishing to stick my oar in where I am only an occasional player, I thought the initial post was pretty clear..if you dont change a non runner before 1st race you get SP favourite....what is unclear?

and I really appreciate the efforts made by the organiser(s) of these fun comps, must be difficult enough without the added stress of mid comp disputes.

Thank you king for your efforts on this one.

We have been doing these comps for years, so have probably done well over 100 of them. I used to run them, I took over from Realale and tso took over from me. The rule was always NR you get the fav unless you post a change before the race. The rules were changed late last year. Now the rules are usually on page 1, more often post 1 too, and after so many times of doing this comp I am guessing the vast, and I mean vast, majority of us don't read them as they usually never change. They did change but of course most of us didn't know this. Even Kingofcakes who is running this comp didn't know it changed as he changed a NR of his own too.

That is where the confusion has arisen. Rules changed but not really pointed out so missed by most.

Also Eagle what the instance is here is a NR of a race later in the day, myself, scorer and kingofcakes chose a replacement to it instead of the fav.

No worries, no doubt all will be resolved happily

Yeah its a fair point.I should have clarified before the Cheltenham Comp by PMing folk(it was the first big one since the rule change)
The original change anytime rule was in place long before i even knew about DS so the originals who have played for years would naturally assume and because Cheltenham went off pretty much unhitched it wasnt really an issue.
I just introduced it after the Comp(might have been Goodwood) where there was so many NR's during the days that it became a headache admin wise and i thought it was unfair that some were able to change during the Racing whilst others were left with the highest racecard number which is mostly a rag.
One way round it for the future is folk who are not going to be around can pick 1 or 2 reserves as a back up plan and others who will be around get the choice of changing during the afternoon.
